Day 1

Santiago – Welcome to Chile

Santiago is a vibrant capital, with a pristine view of the rolling peaks of the bordering Andes Mountains. The snowcapped summits overtake the city’s skyline. Mercato Central bustles with locals enjoying a meal of fresh seafood inside the center hangers. Vendors overtake the exterior, displaying the bright rinds of local produce, from passion fruit to oranges. Cafes and restaurants add a European quality to the South American city. Businessmen bustle through the financial district. The hill of San Cristobal stands at the center of the city and provides a lavish panorama of the rooftops stretching to the foothills of the Andes.

Your private transfer meets you upon your arrival at the airport and escorts you to the comforts of your hotel located in the city center. La Chascona, home to the celebrated Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, was erected in the 1950s. Neruda loved all things nautical and decorated the entire home with maritime themes. Colored glass shines vivacious light into the rooms. The dining room resembles a ship’s cabin. The living room has a layout akin to a lighthouse. The atmosphere of the ocean comes to Neruda’s home and welcomes you to the city. Visit Ainsworth Bay for a view of the Marinelli Glacier before arriving on Tucker Islet to walk with the penguins. You venture to land on a Zodiac boat to witness the grandeur of Pia Glacier up close. The cruise ship then travels through Glacier Alley, where you can view large masses of ice bobbing along the Beagle Channel, with spectacular glaciers visible in the distance. Next, you step onto the shores of Cape Horn to explore the national park and visit the poetic monument overlooking the convergence of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. You continue to Wulaia Bay, where an aboriginal settlement was once located. The cruise ship docks in Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world.

Review: Argentina, Chile, Santiago, Valparaiso, Torres del Paine, Buenos Aires, Cruise of Tierra del Fuego, Iguazu Falls

Amazing trip to Santiago, Valparaiso, Torres del Paine, cruise through Tierra del Fuego, Iguazu Falls and 4 nights in Buenos Aires.  Stayed at Patagonia Camp and on cruise both of which were extremely accommodating to different levels of outdoor experience.  The cruise folk were just amazing; could not imagine better caring, support, food, friendliness.  The travel company was always in touch before and during trip, demonstrated great knowledge of options and arranged top quality guides that spoke excellent English. Agent was also very responsive with correcting error on type we were given and got things straightened out immediately.

Travel Review: Luxury South America Tour, Argentina, Chile, Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Atacama, Torres del Paine, Fitz Roy

We had the most fabulous and memorable time in South America and and are forever grateful you were able to plan such a fantastic and seamless trip for us. The restaurant recommendations were fantastic, the location of our hotels couldn't have been more perfect and well suited to us as a couple and Tierra was simply an experience of it's own for which we will always remember. Between exploring the streets of Buenos Aires, climbing on glaciers, seeing the Fitz Roy and the Towers of Torres del Paine we both agree we have left a piece of our hearts in South America. Our agent communicated with us incredibly well and catered to our every need. He was incredibly flexible and welcoming.

Chile & Argentina Vacation Review, Torres del Paine, Santiago, Cooking Class & Market Tour with Chef, Mendoza Wine Tasting, Culture
We had a wonderful trip to Chile and Argentina planned by this travel company!  Our agent was very knowledgeable about the region and took the time to get to know us via phone multiple times in order to design a trip that was right for our needs. We spent 3 incredible days in the heart of Torres del Paine (Patagonia), 2 in Santiago, 2 in the Atacama Desert, 3 in Mendoza, and 2 in Buenos Aires (plus a few travel days getting where we needed to go). We loved the mix of activity, food / wine, and culture. Our transfers ran very smoothly, our guides were fantastic, and our hotels were solid. The travel specialist at this company was particularly helpful over an App throughout our trip when we had questions or needed assistance securing a dinner reservation or adjusting a transfer time. Hiccups: As we got closer to our departure date (a few weeks out), we did notice much slower response times from the team as we were asking questions about safety in Santiago with the ongoing violent protests, and what our options would be if we decided to opt out of the Santiago portion. We were reassured over email that we would be safe and ended up going to Santiago and enjoying it, but I was a bit frustrated about the slow responses considering the gravity of the situation (at least how it was being portrayed in the news).  Additionally, there were a couple of points in our trip that we felt like we were not given nearly enough information from the agency in order to be successful that day.  For example, the "voucher" that the agency gave to us for a 3-hour bus ride from Punta Arenas Airport to Puerto Natales was SUPER confusing to the bus driver, particularly when we had a language barrier and weren't able to communicate properly. It wasn't a confirmation issued directly by the bus company and the time printed on the voucher was somehow different than what the bus company's schedule was, so he refused to let us on his bus and we then had to sit at the airport 3 more hours waiting for the next bus... In addition, Christmas Eve in Mendoza is completely dead. The agency helped us secure a dinner reservation at one of the only open restaurants in the entire city, but did not give us a heads up at all that there would be ZERO options to get home from said dinner that evening. We had to find out from the hotel and our guide upon arrival in Mendoza that we would have an extremely difficult time getting a taxi after dinner, and it did in fact take us over 1.5 hours wandering around / calling taxi companies / trying to load Uber to find a ride back to our hotel 30 mins away from downtown. In addition, we were given very little information about the activities we were doing in the Atacama desert and it would have been nice to know that our "Moon Valley Sunset Tour" also included quite a bit of hiking and exploring on foot in the peak heat of the day.

Argentina & Chile Trip Review: Iguazu Falls, El Calafate, El Chalten, Ushuaia, Santiago, Torres del Paine, Laguna de los Tres Hike
We have recently finished a 19 day trip to Patagonia (Chile & Argentina) and Iguazu falls. Ezequiel helped us customize our trip. Pia, our destination host was extremely wonderful, responsive and available at anytime. Most of the local tour operators were good except transportation from Ushuaia airport to the hotel in a dirty old taxi. We have a mixed reviews of the hotels especially the hotel in Torres del Paine, all inclusive program which was not worth it. Food, excursions, attitudes of the staffs and some guides, customer service were below our expectation.  We like the Santiago hotel, the hotel in El Calafate and the hotel in El Chalten. We enjoyed the Trek to see Perito Moreno Glacier (amazing!), the Trekking & Canoeing, Off-roading in Ushuaia, the great adventure with the boat ride under the waterfalls. All of the tour guides were outstanding!Thank you to our travel team for the amazing trip!

Review: South America Tour, Argentina & Chile, Santiago, Mendoza, Buenos Aires, Torres del Paine, El Calafate, Atacama Desert

This agency arranged a wonderful trip for us to Argentina and Chile (Buenos Aires, Mendoza, El Calafate, Torres del Paine, Santiago and San Pedro de Atacama).  The itinerary was prepared with our input and budget considerations though a very easy interactive process with their team. The accommodations and tours were as promised and we had a wonderful vacation that included city tours, wine tasting and some more adventurous outings in Patagonia and the Atacama Desert.  I can certainly recommend them for your travel needs without any hesitation.  A big thanks to our travel planners and the rest of the travel team.

Travel Agent Review: Luxury Chile & Argentina Family Tour, Torres del Paine, Buenos Aires, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Patagonia

We made with the travel company a fantastic family trip to Patagonia, Chile & Argentina, from Dec 21st to Jan 3d, the 6 of us. Torres del Paine, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Buenos Aires ... a dream turned true thanks to the travel company.

Based on the contacts offered through Zicasso, we choosed quickly the travel company thanks to the reactivity of the travel planner who took care of the trip from day 1. Her knowledge of the region, her choice of hotels, activities, her ability to coordinate the differents steps of the program in a very busy period of the year made the difference. Through emails and a few calls we determined the ideal trip fitting with our requirements :top class hotels and locations, a lot of trekkings, visits, activities organized...

Execution was perfect. Even when part of the family coming from the USA side was stopped one night in Miami for weather conditions she organized the first unexpected stop in Santiago with a tour of the town in a few hours delay ! During the whole 12 days trip, everything was perfectly coordinated : we had in hands all the key numbers of the different providers, reservations were all in place, rooms were what we ordered, pick ups were on time, description of the activities was accurate. Not one single even small problem. This is a 100/100.

And what we know as travellers is that reliability of the organization makes all the difference between dream and nightmare. So we warmly recommand the travel company as a travel agency and first class service and the travel planner for her affordability and professionalism.

So, for all the family a wonderful memory and perfect service obtained from the travel company, thanks to Zicasso. And as we are regular and very demanding travelers all around the world, this is a real  recommandation !
