Review: Luxury South America Honeymoon, Chile, Argentina, Patagonia, Buenos Aries, Santiago, Punta Arenas, Perito Moreno Glacier

My wife and I booked our honeymoon in Chile and Argentina through Zicasso, which matched us with the local travel agent. Our trip included stops in Santiago, Chile, Punta Arenas to see the Penguins, an upscale all inclusive hotel just outside of Torres Del Paine national park, a glacier tour in El Calafate, and ended with two nights in Buenos Aires before returning home.

As you can imagine, the above required a great deal of coordination and our trip/honeymoon was absolutely fabulous. Every travel arrangement, transfer, hotel, and excursion was wonderful. All of our drivers/tour guides were on time, knowledgeable, and knew our travel itinerary exactly. We felt safe and confident that we would be well cared for the entire trip which allowed us to relax and enjoy our honeymoon.

This agency clearly has excellent relationships with outstanding local tour guides, and this allows them to execute seamless trips. We have no reservations in providing them with an outstanding 5 star review.

Argentina & Chile Travel Review: Valparaiso, Casablanca Valley Wineries, Puntas Arenas, Perito Moreno Glacier, Iguazu Falls

Our trip started on November 7, 19 with our first stop at Santiago del Chile.  Our guide (from a local agency) spent two wonderful days with us. Even though our visit at Valparaiso had to be cancelled due to some street riots, the travel specialist has secured a visit at a winery in Casablanca Valley, as well as a winery where we had a tour, vine testing and a very good lunch.

Our next stop was at Puntas Arenas, from which a minivan had taken us to the Hotel in the Las Torres Del Paine .  The hotel and the staff were wonderful, very attentive and provided all services with big smiles.  Our first hike to Las Torres took us a whole day but what a view we did experience ... we will never forget the Las Torres view and excellent guides hotel had provided.

From Las Torres the minivan had taken us to El Calafate where next morning we were met by our guide - a wonderful lady, very experience and knowledgable tourist guide - we highly recommend her services. We spent a day visiting Glaciar Perito Moreno.  We spent two night at a Boutique Hotel, a very classy yet modern hotel.

From El Calafate we took a short flight to Ushuaia, where we stayed at a hotel.  Our trip to see the penguins and other water animals was very well organized (the captain of the boat could wear a more professional cloths but then he was a captain......).

From Ushuaia we traveled to Iguazu via Buenos Aires.  The Suites Hotel was spectacular; it was situated literary in the middle of jungle with lavish green vegetation in front of our balcony.  The Iquazu Falls are impossible to describe, one needs to see them from both Argentinian and Brazilian sides. Our private guide was superb - extremely intelligent, knowledgable, resourceful and very helpful - we highly recommend his services.

Our last stop was at Buenos Aires where we met our guide, a very educated city guide.  We had a wonderful time with her and  highly recommend her services as well.  The Tango Show was superb, not to mentioned a very tasteful meal.

We, Peter and I have planed this trip for a long time and with your help it was the trip we will never forget.

In Buenos Aires we met with our travel planner from this travel company; she was interested in our comments and suggestions with regards to provided itinerary. It is always better to provide more details rather than less or information which is  not quantifiable.  For example: "At appropriate time."..... rather than around 3 pm the van (it is important also to specify what van?) will pick you up from the airport.  This example is for the Puntas Arenas airport where nobody was waiting for us......

Overall, our trip was fantastic and we will always remember it.  Thank you for making it happen.

I have already reached out to your office for the itinerary for our next trip to Japan in September 2020.

Travel Review: Solo Argentina Tour, Buenos Aires, Bariloche, El Calafate, Tierra de Fuego, Ushuaia, Iguazu Falls Boat Tour

My Argentina travel agency was very specific and very up to point with regards to the itinerary. Everything they placed within my itinerary was the exact description of the things I'd do and places I'd go. They are always available, and they are very attuned to the needs of their clients. I had the great opportunity of spending my vacation in Argentina and thanks to them it was by far my most memorable trip.

Now for specifics:

I would like to thank my drivers and my guides for the awesome tours I had in Buenos Aires,  Iguazu,  El Calafate, Bariloche, and in Ushuaia.

All of my hotels were very unique but all were great. I'd have to say my Bariloche stay was the easiest because I'm used to hotel services like that of this hotel.

The hotel in Buenos Aires is quaint but very accessible to the city.

My hotel in Iguazu I had a little bit of difficulty. The staff are not as engaging, and I felt like they try not to interact with me as much because I do not speak a minim of Spanish. The wifi was great, but I had to get out of my room to get some, as the wifi was only available in the lobby. It was also quite a ways to some establishments.

The hotel in El Calafate was just lovely. I felt like I was home. Breakfast was on point, the staff are very accommodating, and the area is just the right distance to main street and Lago Argentina.

My villa in Bariloche offered the most accommodations, with spas, pools, and restaurants. My room was big, and both the staff and breakfast were awesome.

My hotel in Ushuaia was also lovely. A far ways from the main street but it makes up for it for service.

Travel Agent Review, 2-Week Chile Trip, Patagonia, San Pedro De Atacama, Torres Del Paine National Park, Trekking, Food & Wine

The individuals with whom we worked at the travel company were very nice and responsive and it is overall a good and reputable provider who could stand to learn a few things. All sub-providers were prompt and waiting for us without a hitch. We found all guides and drivers to be extremely friendly and personable, and for the most part well-organized.

The provider in the Atacama, was highly educated and experienced in touring. He helped arrange early check-in at the hotel in San Pedro which was very helpful

We only have a few "teachable" items to report:

1. The 2:50 a.m. pickup at the hotel in Valparaiso was absolutely brutal. The hotel said that they would have something for breakfast while we waited for our guide to pick us up. We arrived downstairs and there were a few stale cookies out from the prior evening and no coffee. The young man working the night shift scrambled to get some coffee together for us, but unfortunately we had to wait until we got to the airport in Santiago for the trip to Calama to get a meaningful meal (at our expense). Our guide, however, stayed with us to efficiently navigate domestic check-in, and even arranged for a little known way to get discounted checked baggage handling with the airlines that saved us quite a bit of money.

As we later discovered, there is a hotel at SCL airport where we feel it would have been better to stay instead of overnight in Valparaiso, as due to the early wakeup we were not going to take advantage of the night-life there. Logistically, we would have liked a little better advice in this regard as the recovery from the early wakeup was tedious. We felt like overall using a booking agent was worthwhile, as we probably could not have had such good coverage with the limited amount of time we had to spend planning.

2. HUGE discrepancy in Patagonia itinerary led us to initially believe we were flying in to Puerto Natales (1 1/2 hours to Torres del Paine), but it turns out we were actually booked to Punta Arenas (4 1/2 hour drive to Torres del Paine). Much to our displeasure, the hotel had sent a small vehicle for transit to the Park and we were crammed very uncomfortably into the backseat for the entire ride minus the stops. It was late in the game when the travel company had to change these arrangements (they did not notice the discrepancy until I called a trip planner and pointed it out), and the hotel said all their larger vehicles were in use at the time. NOT HAPPY with the error on the itinerary nor the transit from Punta Arenas to the park! The return to Punta Arenas was much more accommodating.

3. Given that we did a pay a premium for the travel company to arrange logistics, we would have hoped for a recommendation for the star-gazing tour in the Atacama. This is one of the top attractions of the desert. We feel that we just told them what we wanted to do and they did what they could to accommodate our requests without much additional creativity or forethought to some of the itinerary and logistics.

Chile & Argentina Honeymoon Trip Review: Easter Island, Torres del Paine, Santiago, El Calafate, El Chalten, Buenos Aires
During the booking process, this travel company was very flexible and easy to work with. They put a lot of effort into helping us plan our trip, and they made changes to accommodate the pandemic situation. I recognize that they spent a lot of work to put our tour together.Overall, we had a nice trip. There were parts of the trip that were flawless (Easter Island, Torres del Paine), but there were also stops that were not as enjoyable (El Calafate, Buenos Aires). During the majority of the trip, the travel agency was very responsive. However, at the end of the trip, they did not respond to our message. In fact, we are supposed to get a refund for having to pay for park fees that should have been included in the tour, and are still waiting for information on that. It's the holiday period, though, so I understand it might take longer for a response. In El Calafate, we had some troubles with our hotel reservation. Our travel company called the hotel and worked it out. In fairness to our travel agency, the hotel they put us in was not their top recommendation. However, we changed some dates on our itinerary and the original hotel was no longer available. Again, our travel company did a good job managing the situation, but I would not recommend that hotel for future travelers. Also, we were told that we would have a bilingual guide, but we actually were put on a large bus tour with mostly Spanish speakers. Our guide was not bilingual and she really struggled to translate things in English. I understand we were traveling in a Spanish speaking area, but I expected to have a guide who could better explain things to us.We ended our trip with a few days in Buenos Aires and were really excited for that. Unfortunately, that was our worst part of the trip. The hotel we were in was not of the quality we expected. It was a bit dirty and definitely did not give us a honeymoon vibe. The half day city tour we went on was horrible. First of all, there was a mix-up on our itinerary that we had on our phone from our travel agency- it said we had a private tour. Our PDF itinerary said we had a share tour, but that details didn't translate to our phone app, which is what we used during our travels. So we were confused about being put on a group tour. I'm not trying to exaggerate, but that tour was the worst I've ever been on. The guide didn't speak good English, the bus we traveled in was dirty, old and too hot, and the stops we made were uninformative. At one point the guide told us to look out the window at a bridge so he could explain the shape, and the bus driver parked past the bridge where we literally couldn't even see the bridge. And you could see the guide just completely give up and not even care. The frustrating part was that we saw other tour groups during our tour and those guides were really engaging, so we started stopping and listening to what others were saying. It was a complete waste of time during our short 3-day stay.

Argentina, Chile 30th Anniversary Travel Review: Buenos Aires, El Chalten, El Calafate, Torres del Paine, Punta Arenas, Santiago, 2-Week Tour

I am so happy we entrusted the planning of our 30th wedding anniversary trip with this Zicasso travel company. Our agent and the entire team are kind, professional, and eager to serve. He was attentive, an excellent communicator, and full of ideas during the planning stages. I feel like he truly listened and learned who we are and what we were hoping to see and do during this trip. He designed an itinerary that enabled us to do everything on our wish list, while staying within our budget.

Buenos Aires, El Chaltén, El Calafate, Torres del Paine, Punta Arenas, and Santiago: we packed a lot into two weeks, but everything was seamless, from transportation to guides to accommodation to special experiences for our occasion. Having a representative "following" us on our trip through the app was reassuring and helpful. She was delightful and eager to assist if needed.  She even made a point of coming to say hello to us at our hotel in Buenos Aires.

We are so grateful for the knowledge and personal touch of the travel company; it truly made for one of our most special and memorable trips ever! We hope we have an opportunity to use their services again!
