Santiago – Arriving in Chilean Style

The majesty of Santiago emanates from the ridges of the bordering Andes Mountains and the central terrace along Cerro San Cristobal. Sycamore trees shade the wide boulevards and skyscrapers imitate the nearby snowcapped peaks. As your flight descends into Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, you look out the window to find Torre Telefónica. The tower embodies the unique sense of artistry decorating the city. The structure was erected in the early 1990s resembling a cellular phone from the same era and reaching 34 stories tall. Your private transfer greets you at the airport upon your arrival and escorts you to an elegant hotel at the heart of the bustling city.

Your guide greets you in the lobby, ready to lead you on an introductory tour of Chile’s capital city, beginning at the Plaza de Armas. Vendors along the street call out water and ice cream, letting passersby know what’s on offer. Cafes place tables and chairs along the walkways for patrons to enjoy the aromas of fresh café con leche and the daily thrills of city life moving past. Plaza de Armas remains one of the most important squares in the city. Palm trees wrap around the cobblestones beneath the historical figures of the Metropolitan Cathedral and Royal Court Palace. Painters set out easels or work in their sketchbooks to capture the artistry of the city amongst the monuments, including a statue dedicated to Pedro de Valdivia, the founder of Santiago.

Argentina, Uruguay Tour Review: Buenos Aires, Salta Province, Iguazu Falls, Wineries, Scenery, 1-Week Trip

Our Argentina trip was really fantastic! It's such a large country that it was hard to narrow down a few places to visit for our short time there. We decided on Buenos Aires, Salta Province, and Iguazú Falls (with a day trip to Uruguay).

Zicasso’s travel company was very easy to work with, being very open and accommodating to our ideas for the itinerary. They managed everything—booking hotels, car service, daily guides and tours, wineries, some restaurants, and our in-country flights. They were great in finding perfect guides to help us navigate where we went and offer lots of good historical information. The travel company was super-communicative, checking in with us almost daily and keeping track of our driver pick-ups and in-country flights.

I think the highlight for me was the Salta Province—it's such a remote area, but with the most beautiful and diverse scenery. The travel company found for us a fantastic driver/guide who did all the driving on some treacherous terrain, translated all our communication, and found some charming places to eat while on the road. He also was very thoughtful in downloading a playlist with music we had talked about liking and put together a short video of our travels as a keepsake. There were some fabulous wineries in the Salta region, so we felt like we experienced a large part of the province.

We also visited Iguazú Falls, which were spectacular from Argentina and Brazil. The travel company made it easy in booking us accommodations inside the national park so we could get an early start on our tour. Our guide there was also wonderful—she shared a lot of interesting information of the area and even told us about a restaurant back in Buenos Aires which we visited, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip.

I would highly recommend the travel company, which can plan a great trip from soup to nuts. The women we worked with were delightful to deal with and so welcoming and helpful.

Argentina Tour Review: Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Iguazu Falls, Glaciar Castano Overo, Cerro Campanario, Helicopter Tour, Olive Oil Tasting, Wine Tour, 14 Days

Argentina is an amazing country and we had a fantastic time! The travel agent from Zicasso's travel company helped curate a trip that checked all the boxes of what we enjoy about travel. The history, neighborhoods, and dancing we experienced in Buenos Aires were fascinating. The dining experience at the restaurant near Plaza Serrano was top-notch. The scenic beauty we observed in Bariloche was inspiring, and the thrills and views of Iguazú Falls we experienced and witnessed were simply amazing.

Highlights included the Glaciar Castaño Overo hike with the guides (they were great people and we really enjoyed their company; we would highly recommend them). The views from Cerro Campanario in Bariloche. The jet-boat ride and helicopter tour at Iguazú will leave lasting memories imprinted on my brain. It was just a stellar experience that no one should miss when coming to the area. The lunch and olive oil tasting on our wine tour was a delight and unique from any wine tour we’ve ever done.

All around, it was a great trip that went pretty smoothly from start to finish. We are grateful to the travel specialist for putting it all together (hotels, excursions, internal flights, transfers, etc.) so all we had to do was show up and enjoy.

Argentina, Brazil Travel Review: Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Rio de Janeiro, Iguazu Falls, Tango Shows, Vineyard Tours, Boat Ride, Wine, Local Cuisine, 11-Night Trip

My wife and I recently embarked on a breathtaking journey through South America, visiting Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Iguazú Falls in Argentina, and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. We entrusted Zicasso's tour agency with planning our trip and it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions we've ever made.

From the very beginning, the team at the tour company was attentive and responsive, taking the time to understand our preferences and interests. They crafted a personalized itinerary that perfectly balanced adventure, relaxation, and cultural exploration.

Buenos Aires: Our adventure began in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires. The agency arranged for a knowledgeable local guide who took us through the historic neighborhoods, tango shows, and culinary delights. The accommodations were centrally located, allowing us to explore the city with ease.

Mendoza: Next, we traveled to Mendoza, where we were immersed in the world of wine. The tour agency organized exclusive vineyard tours and tastings, providing us with a unique insight into the region's winemaking traditions. The picturesque landscapes and charming boutique hotel made our stay unforgettable.

Iguazú Falls: The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls. The agency ensured we had the best vantage points and arranged for a thrilling boat ride that brought us up close to the cascading waters. Their attention to detail and seamless logistics made this experience truly magical.

Rio de Janeiro: Our journey concluded in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro. The travel company curated a perfect blend of iconic sights like Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, along with hidden gems that showcased the city's unique culture. The beachfront hotel provided stunning views and a relaxing end to our adventure.

Throughout the trip, the tour company was always available to assist with any questions or adjustments, ensuring a stress-free experience. Their expertise and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident in every aspect of our journey.

We wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone seeking a well-organized and memorable travel experience. We look forward to planning our next adventure with them!

Argentina Vacation Review: Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Salta, Iguazu Falls, Tango Lesson, Cooking Classes, Boat Trip, Hiking, 2 Weeks

Argentina was all we hoped for and more! Thank you to Zicasso’s travel specialist and the travel company for a beautiful and unforgettable trip!

Although we entered this journey with little knowledge of South America or Argentina, we were expertly guided by the travel specialist from the first conversation and over many others.

Our trip was tailored to many specifications—private tours, drivers, boutique hotels, restaurant reservations, and unique experiences. We felt very cared for and the lines of communication were open for any questions or guidance. We had a fabulous mix of nature and city—from the incredible Buenos Aires to Bariloche, Salta, and the Iguazú Falls.

Argentina is a large country that required good planning and navigation to optimize our experience over the two weeks we had. The travel specialist helped us organize an itinerary that kept us on schedule, with knowledgeable and fun English-speaking guides who met us at our hotels, local drivers, boats, and many planes. Her recommendations gave us experiences we might never have found or tried. We were leery of our private tango lesson and day in Tigre. With the travel specialist’s encouragement we agreed and these activities became some of our most memorable travel experiences. We were also able to incorporate some much-appreciated free time into our days for wandering or relaxation.

We would highly recommend the travel specialist and the travel company to personalize a trip to Argentina. Thank you again!!!!

Argentina Travel Review: Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Salta, Vineyards, 8 Days

Our 10-day trip to Buenos Aires, Iguazú Falls, and the Salta Region was wonderful. Zicasso’s travel specialist was excellent to work with during planning, making themselves available for countless questions and giving excellent advice, creating the perfect itinerary. Once there, the trip was executed perfectly—a seamless, easy experience with no hiccups. Everyone we met, from the greeter at the airport to the drivers to the guides, was stellar.

We were met at our first hotel by someone from the tour operator who took us through the itinerary once more, answered any questions, gave us a welcome gift, and let us know that she would be following our trip and checking in with us through WhatsApp. She was amazing and, as promised, monitored the app closely and provided timely information, such as reminders of reservations and boarding passes, which were sent at just the right time. Any inquiries we had were responded to immediately. Having an in-country resource was helpful and comforting.

For any travelers planning a trip to Argentina, the Salta Region is often overlooked, but was the highlight of our trip. If you enjoy dramatic landscapes, being off the beaten path a bit in small towns with authentic culture and very few tourists, and outstanding wines with breathtaking vineyards, you will enjoy this region. Be sure to hire a driver, arranged by the tour operator, who navigated narrow, windy, gravel and dirt roads with expertise and calm, gave us a wonderful overview of the history and topography of the region, and showed us all the special places and some hidden gems. A wonderful and memorable trip.

Chile, Argentina, Uruguay Vacation Review: Santiago, Bariloche, Puerto Natales, Buenos Aires, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel specialist planned a memorable itinerary for our journey through Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. He took the time to understand our preferences, which allowed us to experience breathtaking scenery and enjoy unique adventures throughout our travels.

Exceptional Guides

The trip planner provided us with guides who were engaging and knowledgeable. In particular, our guide in Santiago and our guide in Bariloche stood out as exceptional. Their expertise greatly enhanced our visit to these regions.

Hotel Selections

Our hotel in Santiago and our lodge in Puerto Natales, chosen by the trip planner, were perfect for our stay. Additionally, the view from our room at our hotel in Bariloche was truly spectacular, making our time there unforgettable.

Communication and Support

The trip planner was consistently prompt in responding to our questions and concerns. He remained attentive and ensured our inquiries were addressed in a timely manner, contributing to a smooth travel experience.

Areas for Improvement

While the overall trip was incredible, we noted a few aspects that could benefit future travelers. The suite at our hotel in Buenos Aires was satisfactory, but we found the service and staff, particularly at breakfast, to be indifferent. As a result, we would not personally recommend this hotel to others.

Additionally, we occasionally felt that some local representatives in Chile and Argentina lacked attention to detail and were not as accommodating as we had hoped. There were instances during our trip when requests for changes to our itinerary were met with reluctance.

Final Thoughts

Despite these minor issues, none of them detracted from the overall enjoyment of our trip. We thoroughly appreciated our time in South America and would confidently recommend the trip planner and the tour company to other travelers seeking a memorable experience.
