Review: Argentina Vacation, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier

My wife and I just returned from a 13 day argentina tour to Buenos Aires, calafate, Iguazú and Mendoza and we are so sad it’s over. This travel agent's team were exquisite hosts. We had 4 different destinations and at each location we were greeted by members of the team with our name on a sign. Our bilingual guides in Buenos Aires, calafate, Iguazú and Mendoza were all extremely friendly ran through the itinerary upon pick up at the airport and were always on time for all excursion pick ups. They each have their personal recommendations for places to eat in the relevant towns and we must say they were all excellent choices.

Our accommodations were all conveniently located and of high quality especially the hotel in calafate. The view of the bay and the morning breakfast deserves special mention.

All of our tours, Buenos Aires city tour- excellent and set the mood for our days at leisure knowing exactly what to do, Perito Moreno, two Iguazú tours (Argentina and Brazil side of the falls) and Mendoza three wine tours were all excellent and we wouldn’t have changed any of it.

The only factor I would change would be our flight time from calafate to Iguazú. We left calafate at 2pm and arrived in Iguazú around 10pm leaving little option for dinner. It may have been better to leave earlier in the morning to facilitate an earlier arrival in Iguazú.

Travel Review: Argentina & Brazil, Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Mendoza, Wine Tour, Biking, Chacras de Corio

Overall, it was a very good experience. Buenos Aires and Iguazu were great: hotels and tours. And all the tour guides very super nice and knowledgeable.

The wine tour in Mendoza was also great. Beautiful wineries and and very knowledgeable guide.

The hotel in Mendoza was not good though. The hotel was located in Chacras de Corio, a bit away from the city. The hotel itself is not in good shape, the room was dark, smelling after mold and the walls were so thin, you could hear every noise from neighboring rooms.

On one afternoon the reception was unable to call a taxi to the city for 1 1/2 hours!

In hindsight, I should have asked for a hotel in Mendoza.

Argentina Trip Review: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, El Calafate, Bariloche, Mendoza, Iguazu Falls, Wildlife, Glaciers, Wine Tasting
By my standards, our trip to Argentina was complicated. Through Zicasso’s travel agency, we visited six locations (Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, El Calafate, Bariloche, Mendoza, and Iguazú), involving six flights. Overall, the trip proceeded smoothly, with only a few minor problems. I was amazed by the efficiency of the airlines, and the tours and tour guides at each stop were top-notch.

Travel Review: Luxury South America Tour, Brazil, Argentina, Bariloche, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Aconcagua, Rio, Iguazu Falls

We visited 6 different places. In Argentina, Buenos Aires, Bariloche in Patagonia, then Mendoza including a day trip to Aconcagua.  Then Iguazu falls, both the Argentinian and Brazilian side of the Falls.  In Brazil, Rio and a jungle lodge on the Rio Negro (Amazon) 3 hours outside of Manaus.   Our travel specialist at this South America travel agency spent a lot of time with me organizing the trip, picking hotels, deciding on activities.  We had a good mix of planned activities and free time.  The private guides and tours that our agency arranged for us were great.  Our agent was always available if we had any issues or questions - very responsive and helpful.  I would absolutely recommend this company for a South American trip.

Travel Review: Argentina Tours - Wine, Culture, and Iguazu Falls
We are so glad we booked through this Argentina travel agency. It was so nice to have someone else make all the arrangements, someone there at each airport, nothing to worry about, someone to ask questions whenever we needed. It took the stress out of traveling abroad. Stephanie is incredibly responsive and put together a dream itinerary. Our guide in Buenos Aires Monica was Fabulous. Casa Coupage was the best dining experience of the trip. Everyone should go there. Nuss Hotel is really really wonderful, and a great location, Palermo Soho is simply the best place to stay (as a young adult--I suppose older travelers may prefer less busy parts of the city) in Buenos Aires and we also very much enjoyed visiting the Massage Spa at the Park Hyatt. Very Nice. I might recommend doing that as soon as you get in from the flight actually, since it is a long one. In Iguazu, we Loved the Boutique Hotel de la Fonte. Gorgeous setting, unique, tranquil, and the chef there is out of this world, creative, and authentic. We liked one night at Iguazu, and felt it was just the right amount of time. Our guide was good and helped us when we needed help (when I injured my foot, taking us to the pharmacy and helping me get footwear to wear over the bandage.) In Mendoza, the Park Hyatt was perfect. Great location. We ate at Azafran the first night, and really everyone should go there. It was the best quality steak of the trip, and I love their wine selection. 1884 was also quite good, unique, and absolutely worth going. We enjoyed staying at the Finca Adalgisa as well. It was great staying there two nights, but I would not recommend more than two nights because there is little around it. We ate a light dinner in their winery the first night that was perfect, and then ventured to a restaurant in town, but I think two nights is enough, because there is not much to do and it is small. But for two nights, it is paradise. The horseback riding tour was perfect for us, beginning riders who like to take it very slow. The views were great, the guide was great and the group with us was eclectic and fun. The rafting trip was also perfect, fun, a good workout, amazing views, and the group with us was again eclectic and fun. The private wine tour was the best day of our trip. We are sad we did not get to do it more than once. There was so much we did not get to see, I highly recommend anyone going for the wine to do private wine tours only and full days to see more. Our sommalier on the trip was young and energetic and very knowledgeable. We really appreciated that we could discuss the wine as we tasted with him. Finally, all our transfers went smoothly.
