It’s a journey of nonstop highlights, the continent’s finest destinations revealed in intimate detail. With an expert collection of guides showing the way, these 16 days reveal the very best of two inimitable countries.

There might be a brief whiff of apprehension as you depart alone, but that’s soon silenced in Sydney, the exhilarating city on the coast providing an evocative taste of what’s to come. Like everywhere on this itinerary, it’s incredibly safe and cascading with opportunities to meet the locals. Climb Sydney Harbour Bridge, learn to surf on famous Bondi Beach, and explore the mystical Blue Mountains that overlook the city. Hop down to Melbourne for a further compelling dose of city delights, combined with a journey into the wilderness and a chance to meet Australia’s most adorable residents: wild kangaroos and koalas. Aboriginal residents are similarly memorable. First visit their most sacred homeland, the scorched desert that surrounds burning red Uluru (Ayer’s Rock), a spectacular monolith rising proud in the wilderness. Learn their lifestyles with a day discovering aboriginal art, traditional hunting, and the bush tucker that hides in the forest.

You’re halfway through the vacation by now, so change the pace as you jump into the marine blue and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, another of nature’s wonders revealed in intricate detail. From tropical Cairns you cross the waters to New Zealand, where the enchantment of Hobbiton firmly confirms your suspicions that you’ve landed in Middle Earth. Geysers explode, mud bubbles, forests dance with mystery, and mountains roll across the horizon; this is all within a few miles of your base in Rotorua. Get even closer by trekking up a live volcanic crater, suggestive hissing and roaring accompanying standing on the rim. Each experience has been selected with single travelers in mind; small group tours make it easy to make new friends. Guides are skilled at unveiling the intimate and authentic, and there’s never a dull moment during these 16 days of highlights.

Queenstown is your final stop, its idyllic lakeside location belying a mischievous passion for adventure. Take a thrilling jet boat ride down the Shotover River, the pilot pulling 360º spins and hurtling alongside stark canyon walls. Cruise across the Fjordlands in a glass-ceilinged coach, one of the world’s most remarkable landscapes coming alive before your eyes. Then climb aboard a graceful boat and journey along world famous Milford Sound, exploring a natural wonder that juxtaposes the sublime with the ethereal. As with all Zicasso itineraries, every facet of this vacation can be customized. The beauty of traveling solo is there’s no need to debate and negotiate the options with a travel partner. South Pacific Vacation Review: Australia & New Zealand, Aukland, Sydney, Wellington, Rotorua, Hobbiton, Doubtful Sound

~~I retired and my wife and I decided it was time to take the trip to New Zealand and Australia that we had been talking about for quite some time.  I discovered Zicasso while doing my initial research for the trip and decided to give it a try, in addition to the many standard tours we were looking into.  I had many different firms provide proposals and after doing my due diligence I settled on this firm.

Our agent listened and consistently provided options and insights that resulted in a month long itinerary that promised to deliver the experiences we were looking for.  She was a pleasure to deal with.

We spent two weeks in New Zealand beginning in Auckland, moving south through Hobbiton and Rotorua where we gained a deep appreciation for the Maori people and their culture.  Then on to Wellington the capital.  The ferry to Picton and the train to Christchurch were inspiring.  Then we drove from Christchurch to Mt. Cook and then on to Queenstown.  The night we spent on Doubtful Sound was the all-around highlight of the trip.  All throughout the tour guides, drivers and accommodations exceeded expectations.  Then we were on to Australia where our first stop was Sydney.  Alongside the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge a highlight was a half day guided tour of the city in a 1964 Holden.  Then we were on to Cairns and Port Douglas where the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest awaited.  Our day on the Reef was extraordinary.  Snorkeling off the beach at Low Isle was an experience to remember.  Our day on the Daintree River and in the rainforest was unforgettable.  While driving we stopped as a male cassowary and four chicks crossed the road and disappeared into to the bush.  Now we were on to Ayers Rock where the magic of Uluru awaited.  The Sounds of Silence dinner in the desert as the sun set with Uluru in the distance and didgeridoo in the background was magical.  As our time was growing short we were off to Melbourne where we joined a tour on the Great Ocean Road.  Wow, the Twelve Apostles and the coast exceeded our expectations.  What a great place.  Only matched, maybe outdone by the hosts of the B&B’s we stayed at.  We’re not big B&B folks, but the Lock Ard and Little River B&Bs were perfect and we will try more in the future.

Our agent had truly delivered a trip of a lifetime.

Australia, New Zealand Luxury Vacation Review: Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Wanaka

Our Zicasso travel agent helped us plan a dream family vacation with our adult sons to Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, and Cairns) and New Zealand (Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Wanaka).

We only had three weeks for two countries, but our tour operator fit in a Great Barrier Reef dive, Melbourne and Sydney bike tours, wine tastings, a private luxury boat tour of Sydney, river rafting, a Siberian Air and jet-boat experience with a 7km hike through New Zealand's wilderness, an overnight stay on a boat in Milford Sound, glow worms, a wildlife sanctuary, and a steamboat ride to enjoy tea at a farm to watch sheep shearing. All this and we still had free time to explore on our own. The accommodations were top-notch and the majority had laundry facilities in our unit!

He was fantastic to work with – highly responsive and detailed, and we would definitely recommend his services! His presentation of the itinerary and activities was really helpful. He spent over two hours with a video presentation covering all aspects of our trip. This included hotel and activity locations, with detailed views. This made things really easy to navigate once we were there. Anything he reserved for us went without a glitch and all transports showed up on time.

Cyclone Jasper hit Australia right before our trip and Zicasso's travel partner spent a lot of unexpected extra time reconfiguring the first few days of our itinerary, given the storm's impact on our first location. Again, another two-hour conference covering these changes, which put our minds at ease. We still got everything on our dream list covered and greatly appreciate his extra time, especially as this was during the holiday season. It really was the trip of a lifetime!

Travel Review: Trip to Australia & New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Queenstown, Rotorua, Uluru, Met Cook, Great Ocean Road

We have just returned from a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand.  Our travel agents and their team at this travel company are personable, professional, knowledgeable and did an amazing job putting together our trip! Our collaboration involved several phone calls to discuss options and preferences as our trip was being organized as well as a pre-trip call to answer any questions.  Our email exchange was continuous and responses were very prompt.  We even received a call once during our travels to check in.  Our detailed itinerary was precise and accurate.  Every connection, tour, driver, hotel, etc. was on time and of excellent quality. While in New Zealand in Milford Sound our flight back to Queenstown was cancelled due to poor weather and we received a quick refund.

In Australia we visited Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road ( a favorite of ours!), Uluru, Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, and Hobart, Tasmania.  We only stayed a few days in Tasmania but would love to return to enjoy more of the wilderness outside of Hobart.

In New Zealand we visited Auckland and then drove to the Coromandel Peninsula, Rotorua, and Napier.  Then we flew to Christchurch on the South Island and drove to Mt. Cook, Queenstown, and Dunedin.  If you are big fans of the outdoors, spend more time on the South Island.

Our agent selected beautiful and centrally located lodging that usually offered laundry facilities-helpful for a long trip!  The travel company also provided a suggested restaurant list that proved to be excellent!  We would highly recommend this company for your Down Under adventures!  When we travel again to that part of the world, we will definitely call this company.

Australia & Tasmania Tour: Sydney, Blue Mountains, Ayers Rock, Cairns, Great Barrier Reef, Winery Tour, Bonorong, Bruny Island

Our trip to Australia was a trip of a lifetime and it exceeded all our expectation thanks to our travel agent from the Australia tour company. Our agent worked with us tirelessly for months to customize a package to fit our needs and our budget. Our trip consisted of 10 airline flights, 8 shuttle transfers, 7 hotels and 10 tours. Every connection went like clockwork and problem free.  Each tour was well managed and professionally done. Every hotel was clean and comfortable with 100% satisfaction from us.  We were particularly happy with Tasmania in general and the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart.

Our 4 days in Sydney over New Years was fabulous and we loved the city.  The Hunter Valley Wine tour was great and we were sorry to miss the Blue Mountain tour but it did not fit.  Ayers Rock was enjoyable and we were glad to make it a brief stopover. Cairns was a beautiful location and we enjoyed our 3 days there doing Karanda and the Reef.  As mentioned Tasmania was super special.  We loved the Bruny Island cruise and the city of Hobart.  We drove our rental car to Swansea with stops at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (highly recommended) and historic Richmond.  After a visit to Freycinet National Park which was lovely, we drove to Launceston.

Our 3 days in Melbourne after our Princess cruise was also very special.  We enjoyed the city and the Travelodge Southbank hotel.  It had the perfect location next to the Eureka Tower, the riverwalk and the free tram for the city. We flew home on Australia Day which was a little disappointing but no one considered that before the trip..

Australia, New Zealand, Vacation Review: Great Ocean Road, Arthur's Pass, Phillip Island, Milford Sound, Wildlife, 16 Days

We were very pleased with the service we received from our Zicasso travel agent. She designed an itinerary that was perfect for us, focused on seeing wildlife and some of the beautiful, must-see places in Australia and New Zealand. The accommodations she picked exceeded our expectations and the tours were great. After my sister and I had an initial conversation with her, we knew we wanted to work with her.

We spent about eight days in Australia. We flew into Sydney, spent a night there, then on to the Port Douglas area, where we visited an excellent wildlife habitat where we were able to hold koalas and feed kangaroos. A cruise to the Great Barrier Reef was enjoyable, but unfortunately, it had rained quite a bit and the water was murky and very choppy. Next, we flew to Melbourne (a beautiful city) and had a wonderful time in that area. For tours, we went to Phillip Island and a wildlife sanctuary to see the smallest penguins emerge from the sea. The next day, we went on a two-day/one-night Great Ocean tour, which was spectacular.

We started the New Zealand part of the trip in Queenstown, a very scenic town. From there, we had a day trip to Milford Sound, which was beautiful, and a very enjoyable paradise walk. We next traveled to the Mount Cook area, but unfortunately, the stargazing was canceled due to cloudy skies. Our last excursion was to Christchurch. There we visited the Arthur’s Pass National Park, which included a TranzAlpine train trip.
