Spain Travel Agent Review: Solo Trip to Southern Andalusia Region, Food, Culture, History & Cities
After visiting Madrid and other surrounding cities, Barcelona and Valencia in the past, I was looking for a trip focused on the southern region of Andalusia. This trip was very well organized including the cities visited, the transportation from city to city, the tours offered and the hotels. The private tours were excellent and comprehensive. The hotels were also of the highest quality and the combination of activities throughout the trip were perfect for me. My travel designer was also available 24/7 by email or phone.

Luxury Spain Trip Review: Madrid, Seville, San Sebastian, Barcelona, Girona, Cadiz, Winery Visits, Cooking Class, Private Tours
Our trip to Spain was the the vacation of a lifetime! We asked Ana from this travel company to put together a trip that would be culinary focused, and also give us the opportunity to see as many of the sights of Spain that we could over two weeks. With that in mind, Ana put together an itinerary that we could not have come close to without her help. We had something exciting to see or do every day.... there were no letdowns the entire time. The two weeks went by so smoothly that when the last day came we felt completely satisfied and wished we could stay for more. Our hotels were nothing short of top notch! We stayed in locations across the country, including Madrid, Sevilla, San Sebastian, Barcelona and Girona. Ana had given us recommendations on the best places to stay, and every one was tremendous. They included classic hotels such as the hotels in Barcelona, in San Sebastian (which was right in the center of Playa De La Concha beach), and in Sevilla, which was absolutely stunning inside and out.  We had desired to eat at numerous Michelin restaurants during our trip. Ana gave us recommendations for all the cities that we were visiting, and every one was amazing. On our last day, we were able to eat at El Celler de Can Roca, ran by the famous Roca brothers and is one of the best restaurants in the world. Other restaurants that Ana arranged for us also included Martin Berasategui in San Sebastian, Compartir from the Disfrutar family in Barcelona, as well as Lena in Madrid, which was an amazing place to start our vacation!Ana from our travel agency also arranged tours and events that showcased all that Spain has to offer --- we had an amazing lunch served by our guide on the beach after touring Cadiz, we had private tours of the Habsburg's Quarter and Royal Palace in Madrid, along with touring the Prado museum. Our private tour guides allowed us to skip the long lines and each came with chauffeured limousines that picked us up daily at our hotels. Other activities also included touring wineries, olive oil makers, cheese farms, and one of our highlights ... a small cooking class where we were taught how to make spanish delicacies including paella.  The schedule that Ana put together was perfect. There's no way that we could have put together a plan to see all the places we saw without her help. Our two weeks were jam packed with a lifetime of memories, and while we were busy, we never felt rushed or had to cut anything short thanks to her tour planning.  Transportation was impeccable as well. We never had to drive anywhere ourselves, for all of our activities we were picked up at our hotel and driven in private Mercedes. Ana also booked the ideal transportation from going from city to city, including domestic flights and high speed rail.

Travel Review: Luxury Spain Tour, Barcelona, Granada, Cordoba, Madrid, Sevilla, Toledo, Ronda, Food & Wine Tours, 17-Day Trip

Perfect! This was our first experience using Zicasso, and we were extremely well pleased with the concept, and with the company we selected. Our planning for this trip of 17 days in October began in January, when we first selected them among the companies we were referred to, and outlined our plans, desired itinerary, and interests in an extensive telephone conversation with the rep.He and we were in frequent touch by email and phone over the next two months to refine our program. We decided to drop one city from our itinerary; we altered our original flight plans for arriving/departing Spain, added/subtracted some activities; approved places where we might want a guided tour and those where we would not. Throughout, the rep was an effective and capable advisor, offering suggestions (include a visit to Toledo), using his expertise to recommend the best itinerary for the trip based on train/air times and choke points (how to include a stop in Ronda); taking local holidays into account, even quickly preparing an alternate itinerary at one point when it appeared our party would have to be just 2 rather than 4.We signed a contract and paid a deposit in March to finalize our plans. In ensuing months, the company worked to nail down the details: train and air travel within country; pickups/drop-offs at hotels/airports; car service for excursions by road; reservations at hotels we had chosen based on the rep's recommendations; tickets for museums or events, especially those that often need to be obtained in advance. We had chosen from the start to do our own research and selection of restaurants, but the company also offered an extensive list of possibilities in the various places were visiting; and once we made our decisions, the company kindly made all the reservations for us, fitting the exact times in with our schedule of other things. All this was magically and effectively done for us without a lot of effort or time on our part, so by October 1, there was little to worry about except boarding the plane. From the moment we landed at Barcelona, to the date we departed sixteen (actually seventeen) days later, everything went like clockwork. It became clear that the rep and his team were personally committed to ensure that things would proceed without a hitch. By reports from drivers and guides, they often knew before we did that we might be running a little late somewhere, and made small adjustments accordingly.  Of course, there were minor snags - in one case, due to a miscommunication between a guide and a driver, we couldn't find our driver, and he couldn't find us; and in the jammed ancient streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, we were surprised to find a vehicle could only get as close as two blocks from the front door of our hotel -- but those were rare exceptions.  In addition, we and the rep communicated as needed by phone and text, for example when we decided to cancel a reservation at one restaurant. More important, when our airline cancelled our departure flight with one day's notice, we of course had to work out our alternate flight with the airlines directly, but the company took some pressure off by getting our stay at our hotel extended (and of course adjusting our transport to the airport).Hotels: In the four places where we had set up overnight stays (Barcelona, Granada, Sevilla, and Madrid), for which the company had recommended the hotels, we were very happy with their choices. We had expressed a preference for smaller hotels  in a historic building, and the rep's recommendations did not disappoint - everywhere, we found wonderful accommodation with friendly, helpful staff (most also had their own restaurant). After the trip, we tried to agree on a favorite - but all were favorites, albeit with different features.Guides: Last, but most important, was the rep's success in selecting such excellent guides for our city, museum, and food/wine tours. In each case, our guide was a native of the city we were in; in each case, they were not only expert in their fields but had a lot of great, interesting information to impart about local customs and legends, shopping, and institutions. Our guides added immensely to our enjoyment and learning from the trip – they made a world of difference. The "bottom line" is that if/when we plan more travel in Spain, we will definitely work with Zicasso, and hope to have the chance to work again with this company and their rep.

Review: Spain Tour, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Seville, Granada, Toledo, Costa Brava, Alhambra Tour, Soccer Game

We visited Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Sevilla, Granada and Toledo.

Our travel agency took care of making hotel reservations and providing us with guides for our tour.

All hotel reservations were fine, good, clean hotels great breakfast included.

Our guides were experts, very knowledgeable, nice and polite.

Our travel agency got us tickets for a soccer game in Barcelona and a bullfight in Madrid, good accommodations.

Only in one occasion, in Sevilla, we could not meet with our guide and had to go by our selves.

When visiting the Alhambra, in Granada, at the end of the visit we couldn't find where our bus was and had to take a taxi. The guide did not return with us.

In general, our travel agency's services were very good, they made our visit very enjoyable and would recommend them to any body willing to visit Spain.

Spain & France Tour Review: San Sebastian, Alquezar, Barcelona, St. Emilion, Winery, 12-Night Trip

Our trip itinerary was titled “Memorable Trip to Spain” by our travel company representative Ana.  Her planning and coordination of our excursions, car rental, hotels and some meals were flawless.  Everything was planned perfectly and went like clockwork.  The excursion guides were local to the area and were extremely knowledgeable about the history, customs, and interesting facts of the area we were in.   Being local allowed us to see sites far beyond the normal tourists.  For example, at a winery in St. Emilion, France we were able to have a private tour in one of the oldest wineries in the area with the owner of the vineyard.  After the tour he also showed us through his house.

Ana and her team were able to answer questions we had immediately.  We questioned how to drop the rental car off in Barcelona and not only did they send directions, but they also sent a picture of the facility.  While driving from San Sebastian to Alquezar we asked for lunch stop recommendations and they directed us to a beautiful location on a lake for lunch, something we would have never found on our own.

After our initial contact with Ana, we emailed and talked on the phone.  We established a budget, a rough itinerary of stops, a rough duration, and the class of hotels we wanted.  From there Ana put together a list of excursions at each stop and a list of 3 or 4 hotels that we could choose from.  Once everything was decided on, she also gave us a list of recommended restaurants we could review and make reservations for our evening meals that were on our account.   Finally, about a week before our trip she called to go over the itinerary and answer any questions we had.  The entire process was simple and easy thanks to Ana and her team.

Finally, if you have not already noticed, we had a fantastic and memorable time on out trip to France and Spain.  Thank you again for putting this together for us.
