Detailed Description

This week-long family Greece tour perfectly encapsulates the wonderment, mystique, and serenity of Athens, Crete, and Naxos. Greece is a country where history does not exist in the past; it courses through every activity, every building, and every site that your family will encounter. This handcrafted vacation combines historical teachings with engaging local guides in order to leave your family with an experience.

Your adventure begins in Athens. Tidbits of philosophy and divinity will fill your mind as you begin your ascent to the legendary Acropolis. Today will be your family's day to give praise to one of the most culturally significant sites in human history, and as you walk through each temple, you will realize that you are not just learning of the past, but living in it. After you have finished conversing with ancient gods at the Acropolis, your family will enjoy an evening trip to the Temple of Poseidon on Cape Sounion.

Your next destination will be the mystical island of Crete. To get there, you will take to the skies on an exclusive helicopter tour. After you land, your family will change into digging clothes and prepare to discover the secrets that lay below the earth during an ancient Minoan archeological excavation. The next day, you will adventure through breathtaking mountain passes to the inspiring Lassithi Plateau. From there, you will traverse the infamous Cave of Zeus and experience a number of other cultural wonders.

Your final destination will be the enchanting island of Naxos. Here, you can discover the famed Portara, which is a massive marble gateway that was originally constructed to stand as the most magnificent structure in the world. The Portara also offers a spectacular view of the island countryside and villages. You will spend your final afternoon in Greece meandering through the wonderful maze of artesian shops, cafes, and jewelers in the endearing and rustic Old Town of Naxos.

Greece Tour Review: Athens, Naxos, Santorini, Crete, Cuisine, RIB Experience, Cooking Class. 10 Nights

Fabulous, Fantastic, Fun! We had an absolutely amazing 10 days traveling in Athens, Naxos, Santorini, and Crete. We were traveling with four 20somethings with varied interests. Zicasso's tour planner listened to my description of what we were looking for and created a masterpiece of a trip!

Greece Tour Review: Athens, Heraklion, Naxos, Chania, Parthenon, Knossos, Imbros Gorge, Balos Beach, Food Tour, Boat Ride, Scenery, History, 10 Nights

The travel fairy at Zicasso's tour operator, as she called herself (and I felt it fit her well), certainly put together a magical trip to Greece for our group of four. We all had a fantastic vacation in Greece and were super-impressed and pleased with the staff at the travel company.

The connections for flights and ferries, as well as all of the transfers to and from our hotels and excursions, were seamless, which made for a stress-free vacation. The hotels they arranged for us ranged from old Venetian buildings in older parts of Athens and Heraklion to an upscale small resort in Naxos, as well as a fantastic hotel in Chania that overlooked the harbor. My husband and I loved every one, especially the resort in Naxos.

I highly suggest this travel company because they listened to our group's likes and dislikes to plan the perfect trip. Our trip consisted of Athens, Naxos, and two places on Crete, filled with two food tours, a boat trip, historical excursions to the Parthenon and Knossos, as well as excursions in nature to Imbros Gorge and Balos Beach. Any guide during these excursions was very knowledgeable.

We would change only the following two things. Naxos was so beautiful and we were all sad to leave and wish we could have added an extra day to just relax on the beach for a full day. So, my suggestion to anyone traveling to Greece would be to save at least one full day at one of the beautiful islands without an excursion.

The other thing we would change is to take a boat to Balos Beach instead of walking down to the beach. My husband is 80 years old and although he is in good shape, the hike was very steep and scary in some parts. As we were walking down to the beach, we loved the incredible vistas, but were also concerned about having to walk back up the equivalent of 66 flights of stairs. I say this just as a cautionary tale to really look into this walk before your trip. The views were hard to beat, but the walk was not easy.

Highlights of this trip included the hotel in Naxos (our resort on Plaka in Naxos), with super-friendly and helpful staff, private tour of Knossos and the museum, and the charming city of Chania. Greece is truly a beautiful country, with stunning vistas, beaches, historical sites, museums, and cute narrow streets filled with shops and restaurants.

Thank you for a vacation that will stay in our hearts forever.

Greece Trip Review: Crete, Chania, Athens, Santorini, Naxos, Villages, Private Guides, Hiking, Wine Tasting, History, 2 Weeks

This was a dream vacation made reality–five stars!

We just returned from the most unforgettable two-week adventure through Greece, all thanks to the exceptional planning and care of Zicasso's travel operator and her team! From the moment we landed until our final farewell in Athens, every detail was flawlessly executed.

Our journey began in Crete, where we were welcomed by a warm, knowledgeable guide who brought Chania's rich history to life during all of our many activities. From touring the many villages to hiking Imbros Gorge to the Palace of Knossos, we felt immersed in the true spirit of Crete.

Next was Santorini, where the sunsets were just as magical as we’d hoped. Our stay was filled with stunning cliffside views, wine tastings, and personalized recommendations that made it feel like we were exploring the island with a local friend.

Naxos was an unexpected gem—less touristy, but bursting with charm. The tour guide here was particularly fantastic, taking us to authentic villages, ancient ruins, and serene beaches that felt like our own private paradise.

Our final days in Athens were the perfect ending to this epic journey. The historical sites were breathtaking and our guide’s passion for Greek history made every moment at the Acropolis and the museums feel deeply meaningful.

What truly set this experience apart was how responsive and supportive our agent and her team were throughout the trip. Any time we had a question—whether about transportation, recommendations, or small changes in plans—they replied quickly and helpfully, making us feel completely at ease and well cared for.

Throughout the trip, the logistics were seamless—beautiful accommodations, smooth transfers, and thoughtfully curated excursions. Every guide was not only professional and knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind and engaging. It felt like we were traveling with friends who truly cared about our experience.

We can’t thank our agent enough for crafting such a memorable and enriching vacation. Greece was always on our bucket list and now we’re already dreaming of our return!

Highly, highly recommended!

Greece Tour Review: Athens, Naxos, Santorini, Akrotiri, Winery, Volcano, Walking Food Tour, 8 Nights

We had a wonderful experience with our Zicasso travel specialist while planning our vacation in Greece. We had a group that consisted of two families; in total, eight people. Our travel specialist gave us recommendations based on the types of activities we wanted to do and the types of islands we were hoping to experience.

We stayed two nights in Athens, three nights on Naxos, and three nights in Santorini. The accommodations were fantastic! Every tour guide and driver was helpful and so kind.

When we wanted to add a stop in Naxos for an impromptu lunch, our guide was happy to detour and bring us to a place with the best gyros that the locals really enjoy! Everyone made us feel at home. Thank you for a beautiful trip and all the lovely memories!

Greece Trip Review: Athens, Naxos, Rhodes, Santorini, Crete, Local Cuisine, Sunset Cruise, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agency was incredible. Our agent put together an incredible two-week trip to Greece for us. Everything was planned perfectly, in such detail, and there wasn't a blip during the entire trip.

As soon as we got to Athens from the US, we met our agent and received a folder with some tickets, boarding passes, etc., and a phone that we could use throughout to easily reach her, and vice versa. It was like she was by our side the entire time, checking in to see if things were going well or if we had any questions. We had no idea how well cared for we would be.

We were in Athens, Naxos, Rhodes, Santorini, and Crete. Many meals were included. Two that stood out were a dinner in Naxos at a taverna run by the brother of one of our agent’s friends and the last night's dinner in Chania at a taverna run by her cousin. Those meals were complementary and we were treated like royalty.

Other highlights were hiking in Naxos, a sunset cruise in Chania, and incredible hotels in Rhodes, Arachnes, Naxos, and Chania. I wholeheartedly recommend our travel company and agent. She was truly a special person. I have probably forgotten to include some highlights, but mostly wanted to note that our agent was awesome – detailed, thorough, thoughtful, and truly kind. We miss her!

I should also note that while traveling, before we got to Greece, I lost my wallet and requested her help with contacting the hotel in Athens about receiving a package for me, likely prior to my arrival, with my replacement credit card in it. Our agent and the hotel really helped me.

I can't say enough.
