London - Walk in the Footsteps of Legends

Step off your flight into London's crisp morning air, where your private driver awaits to whisk you to your luxury hotel. After refreshing, join the steady rhythm of Abbey Road, where cars pause and pedestrians weave past you as you take your place on the world's most famous zebra crossing. As you strike the pose, a professional photographer captures your moment in Beatles history. Push open the heavy doors of Abbey Road Studios, where the familiar scent of aged wood and polished brass transports you back in time. Run your fingers along the smooth keys of the grand piano that birthed Lady Madonna, its notes resonating with McCartney's touch. In Studio Two, the vintage mixing console's knobs and dials sit ready, as if waiting for the next session. Close your eyes and almost hear the harmonies of A Day in the Life floating through the space where revolutionary recording techniques transformed music forever.

Zicasso's trip planner was very knowledgeable about the UK. She gave us ample recommendations for our "free days." The hotel accommodations were well-appointed and conveniently located. The transfers were very prompt and comfortable. The majority of our tour guides were amazing. We had a great time in the UK!

England Travel Review: London, Cotswolds, Cornwall, Dorset, Chelsea Flower Show, Windsor Castle, 2 Weeks

Every hotel had beautiful grounds and views. We had asked for hotels that also had the ambiance of age and antiquity. One of our favorites was in Chelsea. The staff was especially warm and friendly. We felt very comfortable with everyone! We loved all of the rooms in the entry level. It was cozy and beautiful, even the patio.

The Broadway hotel really blew us away. It was built in 1300 or so. It has an outstanding courtyard and landscaping. The staff were flexible. Theye even helped me to find a secluded area for dinner the last evening. We were mesmerized by every sitting area. There were antiques everywhere; I should say ancient antiquities. The coastal hotel was nautical and charming. There were lovely staff there as well! The views of the estuary were stunning. At high tide, the river came right up to the outdoor patio. It was mesmerizing!

Another hotel was very pretty inside and had compelling views of gardens and sweeping lawns. It overlooked the Jurassic coast, as well as a very large beach and piers. It was very far to walk and straight downhill. We could not get any taxi or bus to get to the harbor for our boat ride, sadly. We tried walking, but it was too far. There was no taxi for the return trip either. We had to walk up steep steps and then along a winding garden path back to the top. It was very stressful for me because I have a damaged tendon in my ankle, which hurt me quite a lot. It was very disappointing. However, my husband was thrilled that I made it up the hill. So was I.

There was a mix-up at the hotel about our room. We had discussed with our agent that we needed rooms on the ground floors. They had us on the first floor and moved us at the last minute to a very small corner room with cheap furniture and no space for two people to maneuver. We were both appalled, but fortunately our agent was able to take our call and we ended up in an apartment instead. It had no view other than of parked cars, but it was spacious and modern. It was the best they could do. This hotel was located in Lyme Regis.

Our next stop was Henley on Thames. The hotel was very nice and the two was pretty, but we didn’t arrive until 4.30. There was no Sunday dinner, so went elsewhere. Then we left the next morning at 9.30. The river was lovely to view.

We had fantastic drivers and driver guides throughout London, the Cotswolds, Cornwall, and Dorset back to London.

We missed our tour of Westminster Abbey due to the time change and lack of sleep. Our concierge tried his best to arrange for us to visit it on our last day. I called our travel company and was given the ticket number by email. Westminster Abbey declined because the company it was purchased through refused to confirm it. We were again disappointed. I tried calling the travel company back, left a message for help, but never got a return call.

We may go back again, but I would arrange for someone to meet me at the airport with a wheelchair. I would have been less stressed. That airport was overwhelming and confusing.

I sincerely wished that we did not have the Chelsea Flower Show and Windsor Castle on the same day. I could hardly walk by the end. Our agents offered to change Windsor to a different day, but it was an additional £350 or so. That seemed very unfair.

Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales Luxury Trip Review: Gardens, Art, History, Food, 6 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel company did a great job of planning and delivering on our trip in July and August 2024. They planned 51 days of travel in the UK and Ireland with driver guides throughout. It was an expensive trip, but we thought it was well-priced. They did a great job of selecting hotels with charm and luxury that were not out-of-this-world luxurious (and thus super-expensive). The touring was well planned to take in the top sights and some less-known ones as well.

We are experienced travelers who have typically planned our own tours, so we were quite clear with them regarding the amount of time we wanted to spend in each region. We tend to stay one or two days longer in regions to get the most out of the trip and we like to stay two to three nights minimum in most locations. They added in extra day trips and leisure days to meet our travel style.

The company provided in-town and countryside touring with local guides and driver guides. They were all super. The driver guides bent over backward to adjust to our preferences. After a few days of touring, we considered them our local friends.

All along the way, we could communicate with their team using WhatsApp, usually messaging, but calling as needed also. There were a couple of adjustments we wanted and they took care of those promptly.

England Tour Review: Windsor Castle, Bath, Brighton, Stonehenge, Canterbury, Cliffs of Dover, Vegan Walking Tour, 10 Nights

Many thanks to Zicasso’s tour operator for creating our memorable trip to the UK. This was an important and much-anticipated trip as it had been almost 40 years since my wife and I last visited London, and we promised to take our daughter as a college graduation gift. Our tour operator was very patient and spent lots of time exchanging ideas with us, which resulted in a comprehensive and rewarding itinerary.

During the trip, she touched base to ensure all was going well. My daughter got to see the best of London and the UK countryside, and my wife and I got to relive fond memories of the time we spent there so many years ago. Many thanks to our agent and her company. We highly recommend you and will be in touch to plan our next trip.

England, Scotland, Wales Luxury Vacation Review: Castle Stay, History, 2-Week Trip

Zicasso matched me with the perfect booking agent! The team well exceeded my expectations in the planning, booking, and travel support during our trip. Our agent was the perfect person with whom to plan this trip of a lifetime. The package waiting for us at our hotel in London was organized to perfection. The booked tickets were attached by day and the overall agenda gave a summary of what each day would bring, including which tickets would be needed. It couldn't have been any easier. Our agents coordinated all of this and didn't miss a single thing. I also had phone numbers for all of the drivers/guides in the event of an issue (none occurred).

During the pandemic, and indeed a year or two before, I had been obsessively reading Discover Britain and planning a trip based upon historical points of interest (Edward IV; Tudors: Stuarts, etc.). Our agent and I put the trip together over about seven to eight months, meticulously going through my list of sites to determine which ones would logically work best for travel by car. My geographical knowledge of the UK was woefully lacking, so our agent was instrumental in putting together a fantastic historical tour across England, Wales, and Scotland, one that could be accomplished in 17 days! I literally worried about nothing on the trip. Our drivers and guides were always at the predetermined pick-up points and were incredibly knowledgeable about the history of all of the regions. Our guide in Scotland was particularly engaging – full of energy, humor, and anecdotes. He also instinctively knew when to let my husband and me explore on our own. It was absolutely perfect.

I discovered Zicasso through my brother, who had used them for a trip to France. I encountered problems trying to put a bespoke trip together on my own. Using Discover Britain as a resource, I contacted agents who had placed ads in the magazine, but to no avail. It seemed no one could customize a trip. Enter Zicasso, and the rest is history...
