Madrid – A Culinary Introduction to a Luxury Tour

Upon your arrival in Madrid, as you wander the charming and charismatic streets, it will be hard to believe that you are in a capital city. Strangers greet each other, small establishments know their guests by name, and the sounds of chatter and clinking glasses far outweigh any traffic. Parts of the Spanish capital feel like a village, as their gregarious makeup is quick to make an impression on visitors. However, these streets also have the vibrant advantages of a city. Aromas of garlic and olive oil emanate from the taverns, great menus of wine are available by the glass, and dishes are created by the country’s top chefs.

Your driver will meet you at the airport and escort you to your Central Madrid hotel that blends vintage design with contemporary luxury. After you settle into your hotel, you will discover that the city is a culinary paradise. The classic way to discover it all is on a tapas crawl, a Madrileno ritual that isn’t just about what you eat and drink. As you join the locals on these old narrow streets, you will get an immediate sense of what Madrid is all about, from the architecture to the atmosphere. Led by a local guide, the tapas crawl allows for a relaxed introduction to the city. End your night with a casual stroll to your centrally located hotel, which is accessible on foot, while also providing a peaceful setting for returning to after the evening of tapas and wine.

Spain Family Tour Review: Seville, Madrid, Mijas, Malaga, Marbella, Granada, Marbella, Lisbon, Flamenco, Museum, Winery, Cruise
Our daughter Sophie had been studying abroad since January in Seville, Spain. We needed to plan a family trip to see where she was living and enjoy her experiences there. We live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and had no idea where to even begin with our adventures in Spain!  So, I went online and through many reviews of travel agencies, I found Zicasso to have great reviews. Once we decided on a really good fit with Rosa from the travel agency who teams up with Zicasso for the region you are visiting. We flew out to join our daughter mid-May. ( we booked everything with our Guide Rosa about 6.5 months ahead of time) She sent us an App called UnMapped and we had full itinerary, contact names, phone numbers of drivers, tour guides, our main contact email and text through What's App. So I never felt lost or misguided. They took care of us from the moment we got off the airplane in Madrid, to a speed train to Seville, daily tours and guides and then finally our driver to pick us up and get us to the Malaga airport.  With 6 people in our party, this made things so easy so we could simply enjoy our time together on a family vacation in Spain. We had an awesome journey to the southern beauty of Spain's Andalucia region. Cities include Seville, Ronda, Mijas, Malaga, Marbella, Granada & a layover in Portugal's Lisbon. We used Zicasso - a travel agency with Rosa. I highly recommend this company. So many ways we enjoyed the vibe of Spain- from guided walking city tours, Tapas & Flamenco, wine tasting at a Vineyard ( the Flamenco museum and show was absolutely stunning!) A visit to the moorish cultural palace & fortress Alhambra in Granada, variety of cathedrals, Picasso museum, the Royal Alcazar Castle in Seville and a winery visit to Chinchilla in the rolling hills of Ronda. Sophia our daughter even surprised us with a special boat cruise on the Guadalquivir River in Seville with a champagne toast! Our feet are tired and hearts are full! What an adventure! Don't stumble around when you take a trip- hire a Guide to do it right! Bravo to Rosa and her entire team that Guided us- drivers included- were phenomenal!!!  5 plus Stars!!!

Travel Review: Spain Vacation, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Toledo, Cordoba, Mosque of Cordoba, Alhambra, 13-Day Trip
The travel company set up a perfectly planned itinerary for our trip to Spain. My travel specialist & I spoke on the phone before the planning & he listened to where I wanted to go & what I wanted to see. I probably would not have included Toledo or Cordoba but so glad both of these cities were included as day trips as each one had amazing architecture and history. Our guide in Cordoba was a walking, talking encyclopedia. Our visit with him to Mezquita de Cordoba was so impressive and his extensive knowledge of the history of this famous Mosque-Cathedral kept us tuned in. He commented that travelers who were not using guides did not know what they were missing. I agree 100%. Just a little bit about the private transportation, guides & rail arrangements. Wherever we were to meet a driver they were always there before we arrived. Professional, cordial & English speaking, each one a pleasure to meet. Our guides were all so knowledgeable and made note of things we would have missed without them. Our other guide took us through Toledo & Madrid when she pointed out the Cardinals hats hanging above the tombs in the Toledo Cathedral I was amazed, that was a first for me & probably would have missed it. Seville was a lovely city, easy to get lost all thewinding remote streets. I would advise to stay central or in the Triana district. Granada! I'm under your spell.....My granddaughter, age 26 & I fell in love with Granada. Warm ,friendly, Alhambra, Sierra Nevada mountains & the Albaicin district a truly beautiful city. We wish we were there longer and would love to go back. Our final stop was Barcelona and it did not disappoint. Our Hotel was the perfect location and we felt safe when on our own. We were within a block of Passeig de Gracia the famous high end shopping district. We had four full days and did see everything we planned to see, Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Gaudi's Casa Batillo, Picasso Museum, Magic Fountain & more. The food and hospitality was excellent in each city. Spain is not lacking for restaurants. Our two week trip was well planned and yet relaxing.I want to personally thank our travel specialist from the travel company for checking in each day asking if everything was ok and providing the names and numbers of the drivers & guides. Did this trip meet our expectations? For Sure.

Luxury Morocco Travel Review: Marrakech, Chefchaouen, Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Ouarzazate, Dadès Gorge, Atlas Mountains, Meknes
Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Aït Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Valley of 1000 Kasbahs - Rose Valley - Dadès Gorges - Merzouga/ Erg Chebbi (Sahara) - Erfoud - Midelt - Mid Atlas Mountains - Fez - Meknes - Volubilis - Rif Mountains - Chefchaouen - Rabat - Casablanca - MarrakechOn our way home from 12 gorgeous and full days of introduction to a new world, totally unknown to us. What a surprise…. At every corner. A country that amazed us in so many ways with its orgy of colors, smells and tastes. A country that we were lucky to get to know and love with our amazing guide of our travel company, who taught us so much, while tirelessly driving hundreds of kilometers almost every day through ever changing landscapes. We got a glimpse of Morocco through its valleys, mountains, deserts, ancient Medinas, big cities and small Amazirgh (Berber) villages by foot, camels and car but also by our guide’s stories, answers to million questions, by meeting other guides and mostly smiley, welcoming people you meet everywhere. A country that fascinated us not only by its landscapes but by its culture, history, contradictions and disparities; by the beauty in peoples eyes and smiles. We are grateful for this truly enriching experience.

Southern Spain Travel Agent Review: Family Trip , Baking Bread in Benalauria, Andalusian Countryside, Tangier Markets, Art & Food

Our trip to Spain for our family of four was a spectacular success primarily because of this travel team and our travel planner. The planner and her organization have four great strengths:

A network of top-flight guides—personable, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. We learned so much and were made to feel special.Constant and instant contact with us via an App, whether we were in Sevilla or Granada or Morocco or Madrid or in cars or trains in between. She helped us find the right train platform in Madrid, pushed back our dinner reservations in Ronda when we stayed late at La Alhambra, and quickly arranged a fix for a hot water problem in our apartment while we were riding camels in Tangier.Personalized itineraries suited to our interests and likes: people, places, and food. For example, she facilitated a two-day hike in the mountains for our sons while my wife and I explored Ronda and visited the Picasso museum in Malaga.Impeccable logistics. There was always a dinner reservation at an interesting restaurant. There was always a driver waiting when we walked out of an airport or museum. There was always a guide on our doorstep at the appointed time with appropriate tickets and car for that day’s events.

For me, the trip highlights were exploring the white villages of Andalucía like Benelauria, poking into some special shops in the Tangier marketplace, seeing paintings by Velasquez and Goya at El Prado, or Picasso’s Guernica, plus some excellent seafood restaurants. For our sons, the best was their two-day hike, Morocco, baking bread in Benelauria, the roast suckling pig in Ronda, and all the good coffee. My wife, for whom I primarily planned the trip, fell in love with the white villages, the Andalusian countryside, the king’s rooms in the Madrid palace, and the flamenco exhibition in Sevilla.

At one time or another, all four of us were communicating with our planner on an App. We felt like she was always with us and we were enthralled with the people and places we met and experienced. She and her cohorts were perfect guides that made our vacation so wonderful.

Spain Tour Review: Granada, Alhambra, Cordoba, Ronda, Jerez, Seville, Cooking Class, 10-Day Trip
The travel agency (Jordi and the team) deserves 5 Stars + for the itinerary and experience they provided for our 10 day trip to Southern Spain last month. Starting with the itinerary / planning last Fall through the execution with their hotels / guides / drives / excursions when we landed in Granada, it made for an amazing, luxurious, informative, and stress free vacation. We wanted to visit the Alhambra while in Granada but were open to suggestions for the remainder of our trip. Jorde put together experiences we never knew of - Medina Zahara (Cordoba), the White Villages, Bullring / Arab Bath Tours in Ronda, a Bull Breeding Finca (farm) and Sherry tasting in Jerez. The guides for each of these excursions were personable and knowledgeable ( each one was 5 Star). Our most unexpected experience and maybe our most memorable was the cooking class in Seville. It's a highlight we can't stop talking about ... incredible!!The team was phenomenal in making hotel arrangements, dinner reservations, keeping us updated everyday of our guides names / phone numbers and answered any questions promptly ... we felt they were with us each day even though he was in his office in Barcelona.    Gracias Jordi and the team for a wonderful trip !!!
