Barcelona – Arrive in Fabulous Barcelona for a Flavorful Introduction
Barcelona is a city of architecture and art, excellent cuisine and an enticing mix of joy and relaxation. The sea breeze rustles against the palm trees that shade the promenade as beachgoers bask in the sunlight on the hot golden sand. Shadows sweep across the narrow lanes of the Gothic Quarter cast by the tall walls of medieval homes and cathedral towers. The aromas of decadent chocolate fade beneath the captivating scent of simple, flavorful ingredients, such as lemon and fresh prawns. Your flight will land at Barcelona El-Prat Airport, and your private transfer will greet you upon your arrival. In the afternoon, locals and visitors alike enjoy conversation, wine, and small plates inside the city’s celebrated tapas bars.
After settling into the comforts of your centrally located hotel, you can traverse the walkways of Las Ramblas for a perfect introduction to the lifestyle and flavors of Barcelona. The boulevard travels for nearly one mile between Port Vell and Plaça Catalunya, and oak trees shade the paths and cafes that offer strong coffee and buttery pastries. The colorful entrance to La Boqueria Market frames the plaza on which the marketplace has stood since the 13th century, and produce vendors provide arrays of color in the form of oranges, tomatoes, and cherries. Individual food stalls prepare diverse cuisine that has been shaped by the customary flavors of Catalonia, possibly culminating in the Mediterranean cuisine of a celebrated culinary kiosk.

This was a wonderful, perfectly balanced experience, so well planned by Zicasso’s trip coordinator at the tour company! From the arrivals to the departures, every connection went smoothly. From being met by our excellent drivers and superb, knowledgeable guides, everything that we were able to pack in during our short, intense visit was a well-planned and interesting highlight!
To all of our drivers, thank you! To our guides in Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais, Coimbra, Porto, and Barcelona, much appreciation for your expertise and patience. And the hotels were superb too! We only wish we could repeat the very same mother-daughter trip with more time! We particularly enjoyed a rainy afternoon's sailboat ride on the Douro River with our hostess and the excellent captain.

We enjoyed the trip. The guides were good, although our guide in Lisbon provided a little bit too much history. But he was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his tours. The communication with the Zicasso company through WhatsApp was very good and they were very accommodating to upgrading our transport vehicle because our luggage was large. The food tours were good. We enjoyed all the sites that we saw. Barcelona, especially, was great.
We stayed at four hotels. Only the hotel in Porto was a disappointment. The other hotels were good and we were very comfortable. The breakfast that was served at the various accommodations varied in quality, but the breakfast buffet in Lisbon was extremely good. The hotel in Porto was definitely not a four-star facility. The local airline definitely does not have its act together. When we left Barcelona to come home, the line for the airline was about five or six times the length of every other line. I would have definitely been willing to pay a higher amount for a business class seat in order to use the very short line in the Porto airport.

My wife and I have been lucky enough to travel to many places around the world, but our April 2025 journey organized by Zicasso's tour company was easily one of the best. Our agent and her team thought of every detail. All we had to do was show up and enjoy these two beautiful countries!
We went to Four cities: Lisbon, Porto, San Sebastián, and Barcelona. The itineraries were thoughtfully planned to give us great experiences without wearing us out too much. And the guides in each city were fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The transportation was always easy and on time, and the hotels were top-notch.

The trip itinerary and guides provided in Barcelona, Porto, the Duoro Valley, and Madrid were excellent. They were very knowledgeable, professional and personable, and spoke excellent English.
Most of the drivers were very good, but we were surprised that some of them did not provide bottled water for half-day tours (we had to ask and stop to buy it). This was a minor nuisance, but given the price of tours and previous experiences, a simple expectation, as well as having the car cooled down and AC on during hot days when being picked up.
The tour manager did an outstanding job overall, but could have improved on some specific requests that seemed to be either forgotten or missed regarding an electric scooter/wheelchair we rented that caused some issues during pick-up and drop-off. Otherwise, working with her was a very good experience.

The trip was wonderful and we enjoyed every city and destination. Our local guides and drivers were knowledgeable and personable, and provided very good service.
Our two quibbles are that some of the hotels were a bit disappointing in terms of the size of the room and overall amenities, given the amount we paid for the trip. Our hotel in Porto was five stars and felt like it, but the room in Lisbon, which apparently was recently renovated, had a bathroom so tiny that we hit our heads on a metal overhang if we bent to wash our faces, the coffee maker was broken, and the toilet flushing button rattled and fell off.

The travel agent from Zicasso's tour company planned for my family of four the most spectacular and luxurious two-week trip around Portugal. We traveled to and enjoyed the highlights of Lisbon, the romantic architecture in Sintra, the incredible history of Évora, the beautiful coastline of the Algarve, the laid-back atmosphere and gorgeous scenery of Madeira, the beautiful, historical, bustling city of Porto, and the stunning scenery of the Douro Valley.
The travel agent's suggestions and bookings were all perfectly aligned with what we envisioned and the accommodations booked were all beautifully appointed and family-oriented – five-star hotels that catered to the entire family, with indoor pools and kids greeted with backpacks and toys at the door, and nightly treats on pillows.
The tour guides booked were all very knowledgeable and kind. They were patient with my two- and four-year-olds, and taught us all so many new, amazing things.
Every day was a highlight, but I would say my girls really enjoyed the tile painting as well as the pastel de nata-making workshops.
My husband and I really enjoyed Évora and Sintra, and truly seeing the beauty and history of it all.
We absolutely fell in love with Portugal, the culture, and the food. My only regret is not having more time so we could’ve seen the Azores as well and stayed even longer.
We so look forward to this travel agent planning us another perfect vacation in the near future!
