Portugal, Spain Tour Review: Lisbon, Sintra, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, 12-Day Vacation

Our Zicasso tour agent organized an incredible trip to Portugal and Spain, which included the cities of Lisbon, Sintra, Seville, Madrid, and Barcelona. She engaged experienced and knowledgeable tour guides in each of the cities, which made our trip enjoyable. We were able to learn about the culture and history of each of the cities from our tour guides.

She secured reservations for four-star hotels, in-country transportation, tickets to museums, and entertainment, all of which were wonderful.

We have many beautiful memories from our trip, thanks to our agent. She was resourceful and responsive before and during our trip. We would recommend this tour company and would use them again for travel to Portugal and Spain.

Review: Retirement Vacation in Spain & Portugal, Lisbon, Sintra, Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Ronda, San Sebastian, Seville, Granada

This travel company organized a 3 week trip through Spain and Portugal for my wife and me in late September and early October. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

We started in Barcelona (side trip to Montserrát) and worked our way to San Sebastián (and Bilbao), Madrid (and Toledo), Granada, Málaga, Ronda, Sevilla, and then to Lisbon (and Sintra, Casçais, Estoril). Our travel company arranged 4 star accommodations and activities for us at each destination. The hotels were mostly boutique style - smallish and well appointed, with excellent service and very nice rooms in great locations.

Each stop included a private guide for 3-5 hours, longer for the day trip excursions. These proved to be the difference maker. The private guide experience has so many intangible benefits. It allowed us not only to see the sights but to learn about history and culture and people in a more intimate way. The guides were all high integrity people — punctual, professional, thoughtful, and knowledgeable — and most of them were born and raised in the city or region we were visiting. They looked out for us and took their time to ensure we were having a great experience. They offered recommendations on how to spend the rest of our time in the city and places to eat. We never felt rushed or burdensome. Our stupid questions were met with patience. We laughed a lot and learned a lot.

It was clear that our travel agency was staying on top of our travels and reconfirming arrangements with service providers ahead of us as the trip unfolded. With the dozens and dozens of detailed arrangements, pretty much everything came off without a hitch. That said, you can often tell the character of a company in how they deal with things that go wrong. We had one minor hiccup in Sevilla when a service provider failed to arrange a horse carriage ride for us. The provider was incredibly apologetic and offered us a meal in the way of making amends, which we accepted. I emailed out travel agency that evening to make them aware and was surprised the next day when our travel agency had booked another carriage ride for us. This minor incident spoke volumes about this company and the quality of the providers they do business with.

We are eternally grateful to our travel agency and team for making this a trip of a lifetime. Thanks!

Travel Review: Luxury Spain Tour, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Lisbon, Sintra, Evora, Tapas Tour, Flamenco & Fado Shows

Can't say enough about the wonderful trip we had through Spain and Portugal and the excellent services provided by our travel company and this agent.  We arrived in Barcelona and made our way though Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, Seville, Merida, Evora, Lisbon and Sintra.  Needless to say, with so many cities and so many stops, coordination of drivers, accommodations, guides was imperative.  Our trip went off without one problem, thanks to this travel company.  Drivers were courteous and prompt.  Accommodations were  terrific, with great locations in each city within walking distances of everything we wanted to see and do. And the guides were knowledgeable, entertaining, flexible, passionate -- they seemed to love their jobs and tailored our outings to our tastes as they got to know us.  The travel agents checked with us periodically to make sure things were going smoothly.

Best indication of our satisfaction:  we have already recommended this travel agency and Zicasso to friends and family.

Thanks!

Luxury Portugal & Spain Family Trip Review: Porto, Fatima, Obidos, Lisbon, Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Sintra Castle, Douro Valley
Wow, what a trip! My mother and I had been talking about seeing Portugal and Spain for many years but with Covid and children on the way, my wife and I could not commit to a good time to travel. We endeavored to travel shortly after the birth of our third child. My parents, my wife and I, and our six week old daughter travelled to Spain and Portugal with the assistance of this travel company. You would think a six week old provides some large obstacles to international travel but thanks largely due to our travel agency, we had nothing but ease and comfort throughout our journey. Our travel company anticipated all issues that we might have and was prepared to make adjustments as needed during our 11 night trip to Spain and Portugal. Everything was seamless, no waiting around or late tours. Our drivers and guides were all professionals who took extra effort to ensure we had time to change the baby or prepare her food as needed. And, if we needed to make any alterations to our plans or had questions about our tour, our travel agency provided a Whatsapp number that I simply needed texted for a quick reply.Firstly, we loved the itinerary. We saw everything that we felt we needed to see in our four cities. In each of them, we had at least one short tour to see the city itself and a longer tour where we ventured out to see a specific site outside the city proper. Each of the recommended sites were special in their own way and certainly worth the extra travel time to get to explore them, the Douro Valley north of Porto, Sintra Castle on the coast of Lisbon, Cordoba outside Seville, and Toledo to the south west of Madrid. There was a lot of moving on this trip but that is to be expected when traveling with an itinerary (a newborn to boot) and not going to a relaxing island.Besides our travel company planning the perfect trip, we had three other issues that worked out in our favor on this vacation. We were fortunate to have the world's easiest baby for one. We also chose to use the Doona stroller (a baby car seat and stroller in one) that worked perfectly for our tours and car rides as well as one way on the plane ride home!! The third was that all of our tour guides, drivers, and even the countries of Spain/Portugal were extremely helpful for those traveling with a small child. We were given extra assistance in the airports, on tours in the rain, and at all of our hotels to make traveling with a baby simple and painless.

Spain & Portugal Tour Review: Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Fado, Tapas, Museums, Culture, Architecture, History
The trip was awesome!  Marta put together a nice mix of culture, architecture and history in our trip. All the local guides were very knowledgeable and very courteous.  They were always prompt and flexible.  The drivers were always prompt and respectful as well.   The tapas tour with our guide in Barcelona was amazing and fun.  The guide that did our day trip in Barcelona was great as well.  Our guide was was excellent and extremely knowledgeable on our visit to the Museo El Prado in Madrid.  We had a guide who was also good in Lisbon.  Finally, our trip to Sintra/Pena Palace with Marta was amazing!  She was so helpful and accommodating.  The hotels were centrally located and most of them were good.  As much as we thought the hotel in Lisbon was charming and centrally situated, the hotel needs some maintenance.  The AC did not work properly and even after they tried to fix it, it did not work the way it should have for the temperatures that we were dealing with.  The staff at all hotels were very nice though and did try their best.

Spain, Portugal Luxury Travel Review: Porto, Lisbon, Algarve, Seville, Barcelona, Museums, Cathedrals, Food Tours, 2-Week Trip
We spent two weeks in Portugal and Spain visiting five areas: Porto, Lisbon, the Algarve, Seville, and Barcelona. The trip was great; well planned and with no issues. All of our tour guides were wonderful. Our tours consisted of museums, cathedrals, food tours, city tours, and wine and sherry tastings. We also received several restaurant suggestions in every area we visited and all of them were fantastic. We would highly recommend the agency we used to anyone traveling to these countries.
