Portugal Luxury Tour Review: 10 Nights

It’s pretty simple, the country and the people were great, the food was good, and the wine was plentiful. We used drivers to travel the country and every one of them was on time and very pleasant. It was impressive how well-versed all of them were in the history of Portugal and they all spoke pretty good English.

We stayed with the itinerary with only one exception – Pena Palace in August was just too busy. The driver filled that time with a wonderful alternative, Colares, with a stop at the vines and a few stops along the coast.

Zicasso’s travel company and our agent made it simple to tour Portugal, take in so many sites, and learn so much about the vast history of Portugal.

The only thing I would not recommend is the three-hour tour in a tuk-tuk. That was a hard ride, but the guide was very good.

Portugal Luxury Vacation Review: Lisbon, Faro, Lagos, Seven Hanging Valleys Hike, Fado Experience

Out of several companies I made contact with, Zicasso’s gave the best response and did so quickly. We then corresponded numerous times to make a trip that met our needs. Their expertise in finding great hotels and amazing local guides exceeded our ability to plan such a trip independently. Our travel agent came through in every way. Three of our four hotels were truly great and one was good to very good. All the drivers and guides came through as planned, other than one outing that failed to materialize due to a severe storm.

The drivers and guides showed up on time and as planned. Even the car rental situation was fairly smooth. Our travel agent also provided some ideas for wineries and restaurants that came in handy.
