Seville – Passionate Flamenco Jamming in Triana District

Impromptu singing and improvised guitar have cascaded from Seville's taverns for over 200 years, the tones embodying the city's permanent atmosphere of fiesta. Legendary styles were born in these hubs of enthusiasm and dozens of bars continue the tradition of its tangos, rumbas, and sevillanas. Your driver guide greets you at Seville Airport for a short transfer to your hotel. Relax and reenergize, the streets of Seville immediately luring you into an energetic ambiance as you wander at leisure. In the late afternoon, your flamenco guide takes you on a tour through Triana District. Start in El Zurraque, where hundreds of photos adorn the walls of legendary flamenco bars. Rounds of traditional tapas are served as you soak up avenues doused in indelible charm. Move onto La Alameda de Hercules Avenue, each building a nod to old-world Spain and memoirs to the great 19th century performers.

As your guide provides an overview of flamenco and its eclectic styles, you move to El Altozano, the home of flamenco and an ode to dreams about iconic Spain. You've got a prime table at Casa de Anselma, one of flamenco's most famous venues. The guitarist plucks gently, slowly increasing his volume as a lone tenor voice sings of love and loss. A dancer emerges, her dress twirling and her body flowing as if lost in a trance. There are barely 150 in the audience, helping to maximize the feeling of intimacy as the music continues hour after hour. Flamenco is a social occasion. During the breaks between performances you're served a fabulous array of tapas as laughter fills the tavern.

Detailed Description

Flamenco was born in the villages and taverns of Andalusia, its passionate rhythm coming to be symbolic of the region. Spanish guitars flutter across tables of tapas and enthusiastic chatter. Dancers elegantly swirl in vibrant dresses, responding to improvised songs of romance as the music spills onto streets of tradition and intrigue. There's a distinct beat here, one with indelibly Spanish flavors yet idiosyncratic tones. Andalusia is the Spain of travel reverie, full of fiestas, passion, and old-world charm. It's also a country within a country, home to a distinct culture that's personified by the live flamenco that inhabits village streets and city squares. Flamenco is an improvised art form developed over three centuries in Andalusia. Spanish guitar and soulful singing fills venues with harmonic rhythms, while virtuoso dancers add mysterious visuals on stage.

This handcrafted and hands-on tour explores the art of flamenco, incorporating music classes, performances from renowned masters, and nightly tables at the region's most historic music venues. By delving into the heart of the art form you discover the soul of Andalusia. Explore ancient walled cities with an exotic edge. Taste fine wine in mountain villages unspoiled for centuries. Visit off-the-beaten-track suburbs where Andalusian culture is displayed in uninhibited glory. Immerse yourself in mysterious architecture, absorbing everything from Moorish relics to Renaissance palaces, and fortressed towns to glittering cathedrals. Heritage and culture is all around as flamenco provides a paradigm to experience the real Andalusia.

It all starts in Seville, flamenco's traditional home and an ongoing hub of live performances and atmospheric streets. Explore the city's UNESCO sites, enjoy the best tables at the city's finest venues, and learn how to dance flamenco with a day of lessons. Nights four and five are spent in ancient Cordoba, an exotic walled city with an eclectic style. While Seville brings the fiesta and the passion, Cordoba exudes soulful tones and the mysterious rhythm of centuries past. During these first five days you take day trips into small surrounding villages, discovering the history of flamenco and listening to masters strum Spanish guitar.

Throughout this itinerary, all transfers are in a luxury sedan with a qualified driver guide passionate about flamenco. Days six to ten take you across Andalusia, the region's finest attractions blurring together like an uninterrupted cante chico. Go wine tasting at historic farms, learn guitar in a famous guitar shop, discover Spain's earliest Renaissance architecture, and wander the mesmerizing alleys of fortressed towns. And this is just a sample of days six and seven. Head to the coast and its all fast strumming and enthusiastic songs, yet hear graceful tones in cute mountain villages. The tour finishes back in Seville, where there's an opportunity to be serenaded on stage or to join the artists in performing.

Like all Zicasso itineraries, every aspect of this tour is fully customizable. One potential add on is to enjoy a few days or even a week of flamenco dancing or music classes, something that's possible in both Seville and small coastal villages.

Spain Family Tour Review: Seville, Madrid, Mijas, Malaga, Marbella, Granada, Marbella, Lisbon, Flamenco, Museum, Winery, Cruise
Our daughter Sophie had been studying abroad since January in Seville, Spain. We needed to plan a family trip to see where she was living and enjoy her experiences there. We live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and had no idea where to even begin with our adventures in Spain!  So, I went online and through many reviews of travel agencies, I found Zicasso to have great reviews. Once we decided on a really good fit with Rosa from the travel agency who teams up with Zicasso for the region you are visiting. We flew out to join our daughter mid-May. ( we booked everything with our Guide Rosa about 6.5 months ahead of time) She sent us an App called UnMapped and we had full itinerary, contact names, phone numbers of drivers, tour guides, our main contact email and text through What's App. So I never felt lost or misguided. They took care of us from the moment we got off the airplane in Madrid, to a speed train to Seville, daily tours and guides and then finally our driver to pick us up and get us to the Malaga airport.  With 6 people in our party, this made things so easy so we could simply enjoy our time together on a family vacation in Spain. We had an awesome journey to the southern beauty of Spain's Andalucia region. Cities include Seville, Ronda, Mijas, Malaga, Marbella, Granada & a layover in Portugal's Lisbon. We used Zicasso - a travel agency with Rosa. I highly recommend this company. So many ways we enjoyed the vibe of Spain- from guided walking city tours, Tapas & Flamenco, wine tasting at a Vineyard ( the Flamenco museum and show was absolutely stunning!) A visit to the moorish cultural palace & fortress Alhambra in Granada, variety of cathedrals, Picasso museum, the Royal Alcazar Castle in Seville and a winery visit to Chinchilla in the rolling hills of Ronda. Sophia our daughter even surprised us with a special boat cruise on the Guadalquivir River in Seville with a champagne toast! Our feet are tired and hearts are full! What an adventure! Don't stumble around when you take a trip- hire a Guide to do it right! Bravo to Rosa and her entire team that Guided us- drivers included- were phenomenal!!!  5 plus Stars!!!

Spain Tour Review: Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Malaga, Local Cuisine, Culture, Museum, Art, 10-Day Travel
Highly recommend! Javier did a wonderful job listening to our needs and planned a trip for us that exceeded our expectations. We visited the cities of Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, and Malaga. The travel agency made arrangements for all our tours, ground transportation, and accommodations. All of which was excellent. The views from our hotel rooms at the Paradores in Ronda and Malaga were almost worth the cost of trip by themselves. One of the nicest things was that Javier stayed in contact with us regularly before and during the trip and responded quickly whenever we had a question. We hope to visit Spain again in the future and will not hesitate to use this travel company again.

Travel Review: Tour of Spain, Barcelona, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Alhambra, Alcazar, Mezquita, Winery Tours

Our travel planner and her team planned a fantastic 10 day trip for my wife and I.  We went through Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and Barcelona, and had a great experience in every city.  We highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Spain!

The travel company was easy to work with during the planning process.  Our planner did a great job of listening to what types of things we wanted to see and do, and then putting together an itinerary that matched our interests.  She definitely recommended fun places and activities that we never would have found on our own.  Early on she provided multiple options to help us understand what was possible, and then let us decide the details of which activities we wanted to do and how we wanted to balance having a set schedule versus having more free time.  She was very responsive throughout, making it easy to refine the itinerary before locking on our plans.  It very much felt like she was helping us design "our" trip, rather than selling us a pre-planned agenda.

During the trip, everything went off without a hitch.  The guides for our private tours were consistently great, and other activities she booked for us were all as good as advertised.  The hotels she booked us in were all great and matched what we expected.  Our travel planner continually checked in with us during the trip to make sure we were getting to cities as scheduled and that everything was going well.  I always felt that she was available if anything had gone wrong.  Finally, the recommendations that our travel company provided for each city of restaurants/bars to try, and of things to do in our free time, were all good.  We used their recommendations almost exclusively while exploring each city on our own.

Travel Review: Luxury Spain Tour, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Ronda, Grazalema, History & Culture

Our Spain travel agency listened carefully to our interests and planned a perfect mix of urban locations rich in history and culture, along with visits to national parks that allowed for hiking and breathtaking vistas.  Hotels were all charming and gracious.  She provided guides for cities (Granada, Cordoba, and Seville) who were extremely knowledgeable about the history and art of these unique locations.  All spoke excellent English and lived locally.  They not only shared their knowledge, but also their enthusiasm for the region, which made our visit that much more fun and memorable.

Although we typically plan our own vacations, it was very fortunate that Zicasso pointed us toward this agent for this trip.  We would never have located these unique settings or been able to plan this detailed itinerary.  Her extensive knowledge of the area and her dedication to planning a very personal trip were the keys to making this adventure so special.
