You are finally here at a destination that food enthusiasts have worshiped with tales of scrumptious pintxos, Txakoli, and Idiazabal cheese. Welcome to San Sebastian and the Basque Country, which are culinary meccas with food that is unlike any in the world and is evident by holding the title of possessing the most Michelin-starred restaurants per capita in all of Europe. Northern Spain has become a witness to its own testimony as a world-leading destination for food. An appreciation of craft is a requisite when traversing here as your guides will be ready to indulge and enlighten you on the historical roots and tradition that goes hand in hand with the food that will reach your taste buds. You will taste the different flavors as they come to life on your tongue and explore the backstage craft of the culinary hubs of the Basque Country, Asturias, and Galicia. You will begin day one in the Basque Country, which is said to possess some of the most delicious foods in the world. You will also explore the world-class culinary scene in San Sebastian, which is a city that emphasizes eating well before other expenditures. Here, you will dine and sip down wine like a true local at a Michelin star restaurant. The following day, you will receive a private tour of the city’s best pintxos, which are the delectable appetizers in which this seaside city specializes. A private car will then take you to the famed city of Pamplona where the running of the bulls festival is synonymous with the city’s celebratory ideals. You will then receive a tour of the town and stop along Ernest Hemingway vestiges.
On your fourth day, you will arrive in the country’s prized La Rioja region, which is Spain’s leading wine producing valley. Once you arrive in this tantalizing region, you will become immersed in its wine tradition and technique that dates back to ancient Roman times. You will receive a grand tour of the area’s best bodegas or wineries, including ones that have been in a family’s care for over a century. On your fifth day, you will arrive in Oviedo but not before stopping in surreal and unique cultural sites on your way. You can stop at the Monumento Natural Ojo Guarena, which is a stunning series of caves that have been converted to hermitages in a majestic setting. Later, your driver will take you on a small cheese tour as you enter the artisanal Asturian province. You can marvel at the Queseria de Main and La Cueva de los Quesos. Both of these cheese stores are unlike any that you will ever visit. You will receive backstage access to the caves that store cabrales cheese, and your guide will acquaint you with the cheesemaking process that has been in place for generations.
On your sixth day, you will wake up in Oviedo and settle in this opulent town that holds treasures around every corner and where quirky sculptures are paired with sophisticated artisan products that have been made here in Asturias. Your guide will lead you on an artisan tasting tour of the city, visiting its charming stores. On your eighth and last day, you will arrive in the tranquil city of Pontevedra, which is an ancient and refined city that has been made distinguishable by its open-air museum and old cathedrals. You will spend your day at your leisure and explore the timeless ruins of the Church of San Domingos before finishing your last night of this trip at a Michelin-starred restaurant where freshly caught seafood is sure to be on the menu.

We visited Madrid, Toledo, San Sebastián, Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Hondarribia, La Rioja, Barcelona, Montserrat, and the Penedes (Cava) region.
We loved our private guides, private wine tastings, and day trips outside of the big cities.

This was a perfect tour. We stayed in fine hotels in great locations. Our tour guides in Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Córdoba, Ronda, and Granada were outstanding in every way. The restaurant choices provided were spot-on. We enjoyed dining in the restaurants we selected from the lists provided. The food and wine in Spain are excellent.
We were able to meet the owner of Zicasso’s tour company and he was kind, knowledgeable, and a thorough professional. We are glad we found his company to manage our Spain tour and will look to book with his agency for a tour of northern Spain soon.
Also, the private drivers we rode with were nice and professional. The trains in Spain are clean and run on time, with very comfortable seats in first class.
For anyone who would like to tour Spain, we strongly recommend our travel company. We had a good pace to the schedule and experienced so much in a short, 10-day trip. The plan was thoughtful and thorough. We just had to show up at the airport and the rest was easy. As an older couple, and having traveled a lot in Europe the last three years, we know the difference a wonderful travel agency can make versus a bus tour, river cruise, or planning the trip ourselves. The best way to see Spain, in our view, is to use a high-quality agency. We appreciated all that our agent and his team did for us, including the 24/7 emergency contact numbers, and feel visiting Spain is best by employing this travel company. It truly was far superior to the other travel methods we have used in Europe.
Working with the company was easy. Zoom, phone calls, emails, etc., were all methods of communication. The collaboration was excellent.
As noted, we will plan to work with this team again and look forward to our next journey with them.

My wife and I have been lucky enough to travel to many places around the world, but our April 2025 journey organized by Zicasso's tour company was easily one of the best. Our agent and her team thought of every detail. All we had to do was show up and enjoy these two beautiful countries!
We went to Four cities: Lisbon, Porto, San Sebastián, and Barcelona. The itineraries were thoughtfully planned to give us great experiences without wearing us out too much. And the guides in each city were fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The transportation was always easy and on time, and the hotels were top-notch.

This trip was the best vacation my husband and I have ever taken! Zicasso's travel designer was excellent; he was very knowledgeable and planned the perfect itinerary. I would book another trip with him in a heartbeat! I told him we wanted to go to Barcelona and the activities we wanted to do. He was spot-on with the initial itinerary and we only needed to make minor adjustments based on additional recommendations he had.
The entire trip was very well planned out and everything went off perfectly. I wish I could do this trip all over again!
We stayed the first three nights in Llafranc, Costa Brava, which is a very lovely seaside town that our travel designer suggested. The hotel there was beautiful, pristine, and right on the beach. We went for a wonderful hike, took a day trip to the Dalí Museum, and had a wine tasting at a smaller vineyard that he suggested rather than a large, touristy one. Here, we had a private tour and tasting with the host. On our way to Barcelona we had a tour of Girona, where it was very interesting to see and learn about the history. We loved the hotel in Barcelona. It was in a great location, with many good restaurants nearby, and was also beautiful and pristine. The first night in Barcelona we saw a flamenco show that was incredible and the next day we saw Park Güell and La Sagrada Família. In the evening, we did a tapas tour through five restaurants that was so much fun. The next day, we had a cooking class, which was one of our favorite activities of the trip. The last day, we took a bus trip out to Montserrat, which is well worth seeing and only about an hour outside the city.
I was able to be in communication with our agent throughout the trip. He was always available for questions and also gave us recommendations for restaurants and bars to go to. He also made dinner/lunch reservations as needed.
All of the private guides that were hired were excellent: our guide who did our hike, our guide who took us to the Dalí Museum and Girona, and our guide who showed us Park Güell and La Família Sagrada. They were all so knowledgeable and enjoyable to be with. Even the guides when doing group activities were amazing: our guide who did the cooking class, our guide who took us to Montserrat, and our guide who did the tapas tour.
I appreciated that although our itinerary was busy, our travel designer made sure there was still free time to explore on our own. He was a pleasure to work with and made this vacation so special. The whole process of planning was very easy because of his expertise. I will definitely use him and the tour company for future trips!

Zicasso's travel experts did a fantastic job in planning our trip to Spain. We used their services on the front end and back end of our Camino pilgrimage. They helped us to see Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, San Sebastián, and the Rioja wine country. Everything went very smoothly. It was a great trip, with great attention to detail. Muchas gracias!!
