Colombo – An Exclusive Look at Colombo

Colombo is an enchanting city of color and aromas. The Pettah district, known for its shopping aisles lined with market stalls and clothing vendors, embodies the bustling nature of the locals and the vibrant ambiance of the city at large. The scent of coriander and turmeric filters through the air amongst the pastel hues and rich rainbow of garments hanging from the walls and rafters of the boutique shops. Your flight lands at Bandaranaike International Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon your arrival. You make your way to the gorgeous grounds of your hotel, nestled between the trees of a shaded lane and the tranquil atmosphere of a Buddhist shrine. You easily settle into the comforts of your luxury accommodation before meeting your guide in the lobby for a private tour of Sri Lanka’s capital city.

The streets and neighborhoods maintain a captivating mixture of history embodied in the colonial buildings, ruins, and contemporary skyscrapers overlooking the Indian Ocean. Your guide leads you to the Fortress to view the center of power during Dutch colonialism. The grounds were renovated in 2015, returning the former grandeur to the arcades and whitewashed walls of the Dutch Hospital. The aroma of coconut and cakes emanates from chic cafes and restaurants located in the complex. The verdant grass grows along two courtyards separating five wings. The walls reach a thickness of nearly 20 inches, supporting large teak beams and wooden staircases exemplifying 17th-century Dutch architecture.

Review: Luxury Sri Lanka Trip, Colombo, Gal Oya National Park, Habaraduwa, Boating, Hikes & Local Cuisine

My wife and I had a fantastic three-week trip to Sri Lanka in December 2018 and January 2019. This tour company provided us with an itinerary that allowed for a diversity of experiences, giving us an excellent snapshot of the culture, people, food, and natural landscape of Sri Lanka, a country that has something to offer all travelers.

We enjoyed the historical sites in the Cultural Triangle, the wildlife in Gal Oya National Park, hiking in Knuckles Mountain, relaxing in Tea Trails, and walking on the beach in Habaraduwa. Kudos to this tour company for catering to our travel interests. Both the company and the country did not disappoint!

Travel Review: Tour if India & Sri Lanka, Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Taj Mahal, Cooking Class, Wildlife

My husband and I used this travel agency to book a two week trip to India and a ten day trip to Sri Lanka. Our agent and the travel company were very easy to work with and helped me craft the perfect trip for our likings. We stayed in wonderful hotels, all very clean with nice amenities. The guides were excellent, timely, friendly and knowledgeable. The drivers were equally friendly and always on time. Driving in Asia is crazy and we always felt safe with our drivers and vehicles. The travel company kept in touch throughout the trip to make sure we didn't have any difficulties along the way. We had several in country flights and the luggage allowance is limited. We had an extra bag which the travel company arranged to store for us. This was immensely helpful! We would definitely use this agency again for future Indian travels.

Luxury India & Sri Lanka Travel Review, Hyderabad, Kandy, Pondicherry, Coorg, Tangalle, Pontoon Ride, Coffee Plantation

We had an absolutely fabulous trip to India and Sri Lanka.

Planning with the travel representative was a pleasure. She was extremely responsive and understood what we wanted to do and see.

It was also wonderful to have travel agents who are in charge of our trip both in India and Sri Lanka that we could call if we had any questions or concerns. There were a few small issues that were readily corrected.

The travel agents in both Sri Lanka and India called us frequently to check in and see how we were doing. I could not have asked for more.

We had multiple fascinating experiences that I might not have planned on my own.

We loved the pontoon plane ride, the Safari, the visit to Madurai, the stay at the coffee plantation, in Coorg and the  meal with a lovely, lovely woman and her daughter in Pondicherry.

The hotels in Hyderabad, Candy, Pondicherry, Coorg and the resort in Tangalle were very special. The places were beautiful and the service wonderful!

The agent from Zicasso’s travel company created the perfect Sri Lanka itinerary for our family with two young kids (aged three and six). It was a good blend of cultural sights, safari, and beach, and the travel times between places weren't too long. The selected hotels were wonderful. Our agent was very responsive to our requests.

10-Day Sri Lanka Trip Review, Safari in Yala National Park, Nine Arches Bridge, Local Cuisine & Relaxing Beaches
We had a great 10 day trip around Sri Lanka, covering many spectacular sights. Planning the trip and communicating with the travel company was easy and quite prompt and considering that there was about only about a month to plan the trip, they managed to organise everything well. We had an excellent driver / guide who accompanied us throughout and he was very accommodating and made sure the drives were comfortable. Unfortunately there were heavy rains and the train which we were supposed to take from Nuwara Elliya to Ella was not running but our driver made sure to check beforehand with the train station and in the end we journeyed by car without any major hiccups in the itinerary. We’ll have to go back for the train trip!
