Our agent did a terrific job of suggesting places to go and things to see. With her planning, we were able to forget about the logistic hassles and were met at each airport by our limo (usually a Mercedes and one Rolls Royce!)..
Our accommodations were top notch (except for Kangaroo Island where there weren't as many choices). I especially liked reclining on our bed in Sydney and looking out at the harbor traffic under the bridge. Also, the apartment in Port Douglas was timed just right so we could have a free afternoon to relax and do laundry. And the service at our Hobart hotel was outstanding.
The small tour groups - from just us in the Daintree & Melbourne to just four and a guide in Kangaroo Island - were terrific. Larger groups weren't bad, though our van driver in Sydney kept stalling the vehicle.

The arrangement of my trip to Australia was done in 2 weeks time easily through the phone and by email. I told the travel agent, the places I wanted to see and he gave me a 2.5 week itinerary that hit all the spots. I went to Sydney, Port Douglas (GBR), Ayers Rock, Adelaide and Kangaroo Island.
Sydney - location of hotel chosen was perfect. It was within 10 min walks to both the Sydney harbour bridge and opera house.
Port Douglas was chosen over Cairns which turned out to be a good choice as the GBR, Daintree and Mossman Gorge were closer to Port Douglas.
A cruise was booked for my GBR experience to Low Isles. I would NOT recommend this one to adults or solo travelers as it was full of children (99% of ship was children and their family) and wasn't too exciting. I specified that I wanted a tour without a lot of kids but I got this instead. I think skipping Low Isles and going further away to other parts of the reef would have been more memorable.
Ayers rock - There could have been better arrangement here as the travel agent booked my flight early in the morning so I got to Ayers rock at 10am. However, the hotel he booked let people in their rooms at 3pm. There really wasn't much to do around the hotel for 5 hours. It was hot, uncomfortable and I much rather enjoy Port Douglas a bit longer and taken a later flight instead. I asked the hotel staff whether they could get a room ready sooner as I was sick with a cold. The hotel staff still did not have my room ready at 3pm - the promised time for a room. With some juggling, they had to give me another room instead.
The arrangement of activities during Ayers rock was not the best. I had a dinner booked the first night at 6pm. Then the next day, he booked me a 12km walk around Uluru with a 7km hike around kata rock in the afternoon. Bad idea! It was 40C so I don't think both walks should have been on the same day at all. He did not tell me that he booked a 12km walk. He just said he booked a sunrise Uluru tour. Had I known the walk was that long in that heat, I would have gotten it changed earlier so that I didn't lose money switching to another tour.
Adelaide was great. I did my own tours without the help of the company but it was a good city choice. Hotel was in a good location.
Kangaroo Island was also a good experience. If you want to see animals or be in a quiet place away from bigger cities, go there.
Overall, I would go back to Australia. I saw so many things but I also know I missed a lot of the country too (Brisbane, Melbourne, gold coast etc). Just another reason to go back. It was nice of the company to help book my tours so quickly but some improvements especially in Ayers Rock would have made the trip a bit better. I would use this company again but would ask the agent to lay out every little detail about each location/hotel/tour so that I could decide whether a change is warranted.

We booked a trip through this travel company with our travel planner. She was amazing as far as suggesting off the beaten path things as well as tourists things to do in Australia. Everything worked like clockwork and the tours were fun and quirky, especially the one in Melbourne about hidden lanes and alleys, also in Sydney learning about the rocks and the harbor was very interesting. Really fun and an interesting way to get to know the city. Wish we would have had more time since we moved quite a bit but it was worth it. All the hotels we stayed at were great. The lodge on Kangaroo Island is something to see as well as hotel on Hamilton Island. Our planner suggested going late March and April and we had excellent weather overall just one day of rain in the rainforest, how appropriate. Overall we would definitely book again with this travel planner when we go back. Thank you again for an amazing trip.

Thanks to our travel agent, we were treated extra special everywhere we went. Every tour operator and hotel knew we were on our honeymoon and did a little something romantic just for us. It was either flower petals on the beds, and nice picture spot together, or a candle lit picnic.
New Zealand Airlines gave great service and great comfortable plane.
The Sofitel, in Auckland, was a brand new hotel and very nice and comfortable with big rooms and amazing views and close to all the action
The tour in Auckland was also cool.
Queenstown was one of my favorite places. Small town with amazing views. The bed and breakfast hotel was very Chic. The owners were very sweet people. The jet boat tour and kayaking were really fun and got some amazing pictures. The best part of queenstown was the helicopter tour. Not only did it fly us around all the mountains and Milford Sound, but it even landed at the top of a glacier and I took some of the best pictures there. I have attached one of those pictures.
Port douglas was also great, the weather and beaches made me feel like I was back in Miami. We couldn't get into the beaches because they were full of jellyfish, Snorkeling in the great barrier reef was also spectacular. The hot air balloon was also spectacular, we were able to see kangaroos during the ride which was very cool
Melbourne was big city living. I think we were in one of the nicest hotels in the area. Casino, a mall, food court and everything was part of our hotel in the Crown Promenade. The eco tour here was really cool, we were basically hunting for kangaroos and koalas out in the wild which was fun. We were kinda sad that we didn't get any up close encounters with them, but that all changed during the eco tour in Sydney. My wife is in love with penguins, so the trip we took to phillip island to watch the penguins coming in from the ocean was her favorite part.
Then came Sydney, everything here was super expensive. During the week of new years all the restaurant and all the hotels hike up there prices by 50%. We did not want to go to want of the free vantage points to get a good view of the fireworks, because people start camping out there at 9 am and to get in and out of there is a mission. So we paid $600 just to get standing room from the Opera House, so we had one of the best views in the city. WOW, what an amazing display of fireworks. We had a blast. The bridge climb the next day was an fun experience as well. My wife is terrified of heights, but I was proud of her she was able to do it. They did not allow camera up there which was sad, but still super fun. We also went to a small zoo where you were able to feed and pet the kangaroos and koalas and other animals.
It was a crazy 20 days, we were beat up from all the plane rides and shuttles, and carrying around 28 days worth of luggage, kayaking, walking up hills and mountains and stairs. We needed a vacation from the vacation, so thats why I booked our last five day in Bora Bora. I have never stayed at a St Regis, so i am unsure if they are all like that, but wow, what personal service and attention. They picked us up in a boat at the airport, when the boat docked at the hotel there was a team of 15 people waiting just for us. They took all of our bags, gave us a cold wet rag to clean our hands and the sweat off our face, gave us some juice. They checked me in in the boat ride so we didn't even have to check in.
Thanks to you when we got into the room there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us and flower petals all over the bed in a heart shape. They gave us the further bungalow from the island which was nice. The rooms were beautifully decorated, with holes in the floors with glass so you can see down into the water. Private are patio area in the back we we can sunbath however we wanted with no one to see. I also did. A butler was always a phone call away. They brought our bags to the room, they unpacked for us, and they packed our bags for us when we left. Whenever we wanted to go from our room to another part of the huge property, they would come pick us up on a golf cart. They also had bikes we can use around the property at no additional costs. they had kayaks, sailboats, paddle boats, water bicycles, snorkeling gear, all of that for no extra charge which was fun. They have there own private lagoon that has nets at one end so no sharks get in. So my wife actually did some snorkeling here. The resort had four different restaurants. I also did some diving in bora bora which was also incredible. of course everything was super expensive but so worth it.
So again, thank you for all your help, we both had a blast. I am sure to keep you in mind for our next big journey
