Detailed Description

Experience a true odyssey on this 12-day adventure through Mediterranean antiquity. Best visited within the months of April – October, cruise through the lush waters and rich history of Greece and Turkey, where the marvels aren’t just in the past but all around you. Step within the beauty of ancient pillars and the breathtaking art of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Listen to the whispers of legends told by the earth and the ruins. Let yourself be part of the adventure and follow in the path of Odysseus.

Your odyssey begins with your arrival in Athens. The ancient steps of the city lead to the Acropolis where the Parthenon watches over the city with pride as it has for thousands of years. Tour through the contemporary and ancient history of Athens, from the modern Olympic stadium to the marbled sensation of the Acropolis. Spend a day at leisure within Athens exploring its majesty at your own pace and, if you prefer, venturing out to Delphi to visit the famed remains of the oracle. The following day you will board your cruise ship and arrive on the unparalleled shores of Mykonos, with immaculate beaches and pristine architecture showing you the classic white of the Cyclades. Along the island of Rhodes you will be able to step back in time, whether within the old city wrapped within an extraordinary castle or along the ancient hilltop where the Acropolis of Lindos stands.

Before you reach the Turkish waters you will disembark in Patmos where a fortress-like monastery towers over the island atop the cave where St. John the Divine wrote the Book of Revelation. Continue on to a Turkish shore at the island of Kusadasi. Where the remarkable Temple of Artemis once stood now only stand the remains of the powerful port city of Ephesus. Wander through the ancient city of Pergamum where the steps of the Asclepion lay, a city known for its dedication to medicine. Stand alongside the walls of Troy and see where the Trojan horse once brought down an entire city. Along the coastline of Turkey brings you to Gallipoli, one of the most well known battlefields of the First World War. Your final days in Turkey find you in Istanbul, touring through the majesty of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires. From Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, to the modern beauty and the enormity of the bazaar, you will not only travel along the footsteps of Odysseus, you will see what he saw and understand the majesty of the Mediterranean.

Greece Tour Review: Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, History, Culture, Tradition, Local Cuisine, Shopping, 8 Nights

If you're considering a trip to Greece, look no further than Zicasso. Our travel expert planned an unforgettable journey for our family; Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini, and every detail was executed with care, expertise, and passion.

From the moment we arrived in Athens, we were immersed in the country’s warm hospitality. Our agent made sure we had the perfect balance of sightseeing and relaxation. The historical sites in Athens, like the Acropolis and the ancient Agora, were must-sees.

Mykonos is vibrant yet relaxed. The beaches were beautiful. Every meal on this trip was a highlight. Fresh seafood, local cheeses, olive oil, and delicious pastries—each bite told a story of Greece’s deep culinary heritage.

In Santorini, we were captivated by the island’s charm—whitewashed buildings, breathtaking sunsets, and the deep blue Aegean Sea. We visited traditional villages, giving us a glimpse into the rich cultural traditions that are still very much alive.

Throughout the trip, what stood out most—beyond the stunning landscapes and ancient history—was the friendliness of the Greek people. Their warmth and pride in their culture made every moment feel welcoming and genuine.

Our agent didn’t just plan a vacation—he created an experience rooted in history, tradition, and hospitality. I can’t recommend him and Zicasso highly enough.

Turkey, Greece Vacation Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kusadasi, Santorini, Crete, Local Cuisine, Immersive Cooking Experiences, 3 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent cares passionately about his clients. I used his company for a three-week Aegean odyssey in March-April 2025. My special request was to have a meal with a local family in their home. He arranged for immersive cooking with two families in Türkiye and Greece. He has an outstanding roster of local guides who provided private tours in Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kuşadası, Santorini, and Crete. All the guides were personable and knowledgable, and we had fun with day(s) filled with laughter. I mentioned to one that the hotel was going to charge 50 euros for laundry. He arranged his local laundry to do it for less than $10.

Our travel company pays attention to details, having the influence to get me upgraded rooms with spectacular balcony views of the Parthenon and Aegean Sea. The hotels were in strategic locations, with easy walking to restaurants, shopping, and points of interest. He ensured I had “fast pass”, so I went into the shorter security lanes at the airports. The vehicles were either Mercedes-Benz vans, sedans, or other nice SUVs for more room and better views.

For me, it is when things go sideways that one learns the value of a good travel specialist. On the day I was to fly from Athens to Santorini, all the transportation workers in Greece went on strike for 24 hours. There were no planes or ferries. That causes cascading problems. My agent arranged for me to spend the extra night in the same Athens hotel, got a new flight to Santorini the next day, even though the flights were very full, had the room ready for me in Santorini when I arrived early in the morning, and had the transfers waiting for me. I did not worry, as I knew I would be taken care of. The day before the strike, I was talking with other tourists who were scrambling to make arrangements when the internet and phone lines were jammed. The peace of mind was immeasurable.

Greece Trip Review: Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Acropolis, Museums, Local Cuisine, Culture, 7-Night Tour

Overall, we had an awesome experience. The communication through this forum was easy to use. We would highly recommend Zicasso and its tour partner for anyone's travel needs. The excursions were all well planned and went smoothly. I think the first one on the day we arrived was a little less enjoyable due to the fact that we had just flown in that day and had such a long flight.

The next day, on the trip to the Acropolis, the tour and guide were also great; however, the car trip part of that was less so. We could have done it without the car part, as the kids and I slept during part of it. I enjoyed the museum tours, but felt like we missed a good bit of exhibits by being with a tour guide. I guess if we had been on our own we could have seen more, but wouldn't have had the commentary and information from the guide.

The transfers from Athens to Mykonos and then Mykonos to Santorini and then back to Athens had no issues. Communication through WhatsApp was good as well. Issues and/or questions were addressed quickly.

Greece Trip Review: Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, History, Culture, Local Cuisine, 10 Nights

Our trip to Greece was everything we had hoped for and more. Each day was filled with experiencing the culture, the history, and the amazing atmosphere of Athens and the islands of Mykonos and Santorini. It was all made possible by our amazing "travel fairy," Zicasso's travel designer! At every turn, we were taken care of, which made our trip the best it could be. We couldn't have done it without her. She and her team were there for us no matter what, big questions/issues and small.
