Barcelona - Airport Arrival & Dinner in Plaça Reial
Breezy sea saltwater will waft in your direction as you step off the plane in Barcelona. You will make your way through customs and meet your private ground transportation before speeding down the coastal highway as you look out on the iridescent waves of the Mediterranean. Your transfer will weave in and out of busied traffic as you drive past grand cathedrals and amazing 18th-century balconies that line the central plazas. You will soon arrive at your five-star hotel in the Gothic Quarter, which is one of the city's most charming neighborhoods.
After becoming acclimated, you can grab your partner's hand for some self-guided exploration. You can stroll down the vivacious pedestrian boulevard that is known as La Rambla, which is where artists sell beautiful paintings and shop vendors sell souvenirs of colorful flamenco fans and wooden castanets. You can marvel at the luscious archways that are formed by towering treetops. You may be lucky enough to have a musician serenade you as you indulge in afternoon drinks along the sunbathed terrace patios.
Finally, you can make your way down narrow, cobblestone streets and arrive at the open-aired Plaza Royal in Barcelona's native Catalan. Children may giggle as they play a game of tag in the plaza's center. Meanwhile, families and couples will gather around the square's perimeter for an evening meal. The plaza illuminates as night falls for a romantic first dinner in Barcelona. You can order traditional tapas like jamon iberico and Andalucian olives that will be seasoned to perfection. Finally, you will culminate your evening with a sweet glass of red wine from the famed wine country of La Rioja in Northern Spain.

Our Spain travel agency arranged a wonderful two week trip for us. We visited Madrid, Toledo, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Ronda, Granada, and Cordoba. We loved all the tours and activities planned and the tour guides in each city was very knowledgable and spoke great English. Everything went smoothly with train rides and transfers. We also rented a car and drove in the white hilly towns in Andalucia and was given a wireless wifi router for using google maps on our phones. From the start our agent listened to what we wanted and also made great suggestions. We had a phone conversation and he was very flexible and accommodating. We also wanted to see Barca play and there was a game when we were there and he got us excellent seats to the game. There was an issue with our Barcelona hotel with them doing renovations on our floor and I mentioned it to him and he fixed the issue right away and upgraded our hotel room in Granada to apologize for it which was very nice of him. We also met him in Madrid for a drink.

We selected Zicasso’s travel company to work with in planning our trip to Spain. The founder was very attentive to what we were interested in doing and seeing. He also worked with us to ensure we could enjoy the trip, even though my husband has some mobility issues.
We arrived in Madrid and were transported to the high-speed train station, from where we traveled to Seville for four days. We stayed in the heart of the city, across from the cathedral. We loved the old, narrow, cobblestone streets and the many cafes with outdoor seating.
While in Seville we had a guided tour of the cathedral, Palace of Espana, and Alcazar Palace. The guide was excellent and the history was so interesting. We also watched a traditional flamenco show, took a cooking class, and visited the Hamman baths. On a day trip, we went to Cadiz and visited a local winery.
We returned by high-speed train to Madrid and took a tapas tour that evening. What a fun time of trying new foods and visiting several restaurants. We enjoyed a tour of the Royal Palace and a walking tour through the Plaza Mayor and the Habsburg district. On our last day in Spain, we took a day trip to Toledo. What a beautiful and interesting city, with thousands of years of history.
Every event, tour, and sightseeing excursion was timely and went very smoothly, thanks to the planning and efforts of our travel agency.
