Detailed Description
Venture to Ecuador and the Galapagos and endemic wildlife twirls from every angle. Dozens of hummingbird and butterfly species flutter through indigenous forests, red-footed birds nest in their thousands, and unusual characters jump from volcanic cliffs to an abundant ocean. On different Galapagos Islands, you'll find iguanas and tortoises that have evolved to be biologically distinct. Beneath the surface, there's an encyclopedia of marine life that swims past snorkelers or glass-bottomed boats. Hundreds of unusual orchids flower in remote gardens and frigates inflate their red paunches with proud abandon. Enter this world and almost all the wildlife is utterly unique.
At the heart of this journey is a seven-day Northern Galapagos tour on an elegant yacht with a large sundeck overlooking migrating birds and whales. You visit the most important underwater and birdwatching sites in the archipelago while also encountering endemic reptiles that differ island by island. From red-footed booby nesting sights to turtle cleaning stations, the itinerary showcases the rare and dramatic wildlife that gives Galapagos its fame. You'll visit two distinct sites every day, from lawns mowed by giant tortoises to lava flows inhabited by flightless cormorants. A choice of fully-guided land and water activities allows you to explore from multiple angles; hike, climb, kayak, snorkel, swim and ride glass-bottomed boats to see the best of the area. Consider reading what other travelers had to say about their Galapagos Islands tour companies and agents that made the experience an educational and life-changing adventure.
Before seven days of luxury cruising, you visit two more of Ecuador's remarkable natural sights. In the tropical forests of Mindo, there are a hundred shades contrasting with the surrounding green. Hummingbirds and butterflies are abound, making for an idyllic and tranquil opening to the country's wildlife. A simmering volcanic undercurrent gives Ecuador and the Galapagos its distinct genetic starting point and on day four you hike along the slopes of Pichincha Volcano, gazing up at the snow line and across to a series of volcanic cones. Day three showcases another endemic side to the country as you take a walking tour through the World Heritage site of Quito, home to eclectic churches and stone-carved streets.
The natural wonder of Ecuador and the Galapagos is not one that is glimpsed or snatched at from a distance. On this itinerary, you're fully immersed in an idiosyncratic world. Watch where you step as iguanas cover the trail, stand within a wingspan of colorful birds, and admire marine life from a snorkel's length. Everything is within touching distance. But don't go touching, such unusual wildlife has only evolved because it's metamorphosed without outside influence. Over these 11 days, you have the unique opportunity to get completely lost in this surreal world.

Wonderful trip!! We flew into Quito spent 2 nights then we flew to San Cristoble and went on board the boat we chartered for 5 days. For 5 days we explored many of the Galapagos islands. We then arrived on Santa Cruz Island and spent 3 nights there. We flew back to Quito for 2 days and from there we returned home. Our trip planner was absolutely great, she kept me informed of any changes, called to check on us during our trip and made the whole process a breeze! The hotels she booked were perfect. Our guides were very knowledgeable and engaging, they were very sweet and accommodating, went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Our excursions were the best! I can not say one bad thing or I would not change any of it, it was a perfect trip!

The Quito tour was very nice. Hotels in Quito and Galapagos (Puerto Ayora) were excellent.
After Quito, it went downhill. I was never given any contact information of the company there or the names of the tour guides. I had no idea of where I was having dinner each night (I thought it was at the hotel but the tour guide on the 1st day told me I was not eating at the hotel).
I did not know that when I arrived in Baltra (Galapagos) the tour was starting right from the airport. My water bottle and swimsuit, hat were all packed in my suitcase since I thought we would stop at the hotel first. The guide did not have any water for me and I was thirsty.
I had told our agent that I get very seasick but I didn't mind boats to go from Puerto Ayora to the different islands but that I would not sit on a rocking boat while others snorkeled, I said I was ok sitting on the beach while others snorkeled.
He assured me that he checked with the tour company and they said that they would be snorkeling from shore.
I told him my main goal was to see the giant tortoises, iguanas, and blue-footed boobies.
On the 2nd day, the boat ride to Bartolome was 2 1/2 hours one way. The seas were very rough and the main thing about Bartolome was its beauty. I opted out of the tour.

Wonderful trip—we left on Feb 29 & back on Mar 9. Obviously, during that time period, the coronavirus escalated dramatically. I took my son, daughter-in-law, & 3 grandchildren as my gift to them.
This was really last minute as we had talked about Sicily but for some reason, decided not to go there. Had we booked a trip there I would have cancelled as Italy was then in the mid-stages of this awful pandemic. (Initially), 2 years ago when I found Zicasso, I called your company to find out more about it. I remember saying I hate to waste someone’s time if you send me 2 or 3 people. Whoever I talked with said that I should go with the person I felt most comfortable with. With last fall’s trip to Spain, I could have gone with either person. This time I had a much higher comfort level with both of these specialists than with the other company I was connected with. I’m sure she was fine but they stuck with my budget more. Ultimately, I upgraded the hotel, ship, & added 2 nights when we were in Mashpi but they were able to get really good prices and there was no pressure to upgrade. Our specialists answered questions promptly and courteously & had suggestions based on our responses. Both specialists checked in every place we were to make certain things were ok. I had some hesitations about flying into Quito because of its altitude and my asthma, so after having the whole thing planned out for us, I asked if we could do a Plan B & I would fly into Guayaquil & meet the rest of my family in Baltra to go on to the Galápagos Islands. After speaking with my pulmonologist, I decided to stay with the original plan.)
This travel company was happy to make the changes as needed. They had someone meet us & take us through customs. For me, GOOD SERVICE trumps everything. We loved our 4-star hotel in Quito( so glad we upgraded!) and our other accommodation selections. I only wish the ship could include all gratuities as they do in other services. I know I pay more upfront, but it’s just so much easier. I tipped what was recommended. I also like small ( resorts, hotels, etc. ) Our cruise has only 48 passengers but on or trip there were only 13 of us so we did have lots of help with the naturalists. In fact, all 3 places we had excellent food and service.
Forgot to add that our private guide for Quito that the tour company arranged for us, was one of the 3 best I’ve had—the top three were all Equally outstanding.
I know this answer is long but I thought so much of them that I wanted to mention them & for you to know my background for it to all be on perspective. We ended up splitting my AX Platinum fee. I know small businesses have a large percentage to pay. But this was how much I liked them. I feel a little shallow writing this but when this nightmare is over, I hope we will all get to travel again.
