Portugal Family Travel Review: Lisbon, Sao Miguel, Sao Jorge, Faial, 12-Day Trip

Our travel agent made this an extraordinary, unforgettable, and wonderful trip for our family! The events and tours she arranged were exactly what we were looking for. The tour and transportation companies she contracted were on time, flexible, knowledgeable, and provided outstanding value for the cost.

Our agent provided an incredible, complete package at a cost much less than competitors. We highly recommend our agent and her team to anyone looking for a memorable trip to Lisbon and/or the Azores.

Five Stars!

Loved all the service and tour guides.

Most enjoyable was the Azores. Doing the trip again I would focus more time on the Azores. Lisbon is nice but a whole different world. Thanks for a great trip.

-Tony

5 Stars.

The guides made this trip most enjoyable. They shared their knowledge willingly and always with a smile.

The only thing I would do differently is make the trip longer.

-Mary

My star rating is 5. We had a wonderful trip without a concern over logistics thanks to this travel company. With 9 of us, it was a challenge to get the itinerary we all wanted but our agent did a great job. I was also impressed by the low cost, given all that we did, and the quality of the hotels and tours. I will absolutely recommend and in fact, plan to write a review on TripAdvisor.

The highlight was seeing my grandmother’s house in Santa Luzia on our free day in Pico. I enjoyed the Azores more than the mainland. Every one of our tour guides was excellent. I especially liked the coffee plantation in Sao Jorge, the volcano museum on Faial, and the whaling museum on Pico. Ponta Delgado was a great place to stay. I didn’t much like Madalena though with two ferry trips on the itinerary it was the best option.

What I would change, in retrospect, is less time in Lisbon, perhaps substituting a fifth island. The crowds were a problem in Lisbon and we found it a little frustrating to be pressed for time at each destination. Maybe offer Sintra or Cascais but not both, and pick two of the Batalha/Nazare/Obidos options. It’s a shame to not see it all, but also a shame to have only 45 minutes in a place like Nazare.-Susan

Spain & Portugal Couples Trip Review: Porto, Lisbon, Seville, Ronda, Flamenco, Alcazar Private Tour, Douro River,13-Day Trip
My husband and I just got back from a fabulous 13 day trip to Portugal and Spain. Our Travel Specialist, Jorge from our travel agency, set up the entire trip and it was flawless. We started in Porto and had a tour of the historic district, took a boat tour of the Douro River and saw a Fado Show.  We then took a train to Lisbon and had a fascinating guided e-bike tour of the 7 hills of Lisbon.  We then flew to Sevilla and had a private tour of the Alcazar and were able to see a fabulous Flamenco show.  Jorge arranged a rental car for us for two days and we drove to the white washed village of Setenil de las Bodegas among other locations.  We then had a transfer to Antequera to start a 4 day e-bike tour that brought us to the charming towns of El Chorro, El Burgo, Ronda, and Benaojan.  The roads were perfect for biking and the landscape along the way was absolutely stunning.  We went to the top of Torcal, walked the Caminito del Rey gorge which was the most exhilarating experience we've ever had, and walked through the La Pileta Paleolithic cave which was made up of indescribable stalactites and stalagmites and cave paintings dating back 30,000 years! All of our accommodations were perfect for our tastes. Overall the tour exceeded our expectations in every way.  We have traveled for many years around the world and the tour Jorge set up for us was, without a doubt, the best we've ever had.

Portugal Travel Review: Waves of Nazare, Obidos, Alentejo Region, Cork Factory Tour, Local Artist, Food & Drink
I booked this trip before the CoVid pandemic. We postponed the original trip scheduled in March of 2020 to December of 2021. I just returned from Portugal with my daughter. The trip was amazing! We were fully vaccinated and boosted and Portugal is doing an excellent job with safety! Testing was frequent and everyone was masked. We spent three nights in Porto and five in Lisbon. The waves at Nazare are a sight to behold as are the towns of Obidos, Sintra, and many more. Be sure to have a cherry drink of Jinha served in a chocolate cup! The Alentejo (wow, cork factory tour pretty cool) and Douro regions (the winery!) provided delicious wines and Ports as well! Oh and the food…delicious! I cannot say enough about the kind, warm people we met and our guides were amazing! If you go in December, the Christmas lights, roasted chestnuts and shopping are all incredible. The hotels that Zicasso/the travel company chose were above and beyond also! They clearly know the area and provided a top notch experience to us. We will be traveling with this company again! Thank You!

Luxury Portugal Travel Review: Golfing, Cork Forest, Wineries, Exploring Walled Cities, Tuk Tuk Tour, Castles
My husband and I are thrilled that we used the travel company for our two-week trip to Portugal. Usually we plan our trips on our own but we are do glad that we decided to engage the local expertise of Nuno and his colleagues. Together with our input, they designed an itinerary that provided a complete mix of experiences and locations that were on and off the beaten path. By using a Portuguese agency who really knows how to experience the country, we were able to see so many cities and towns without feeling rushed (Porto, Braga, Obidos, Coimbra, Monsaraz, Evora, Douro Valley, Alentejo Region, Lisbon, Sintra). We visited historic landmarks, wineries, quaint walled cities, a cork forest, golf courses, palaces, and more. Most impressive was the quality of the guides in each location. Nuno made sure that we had local guides with deep knowledge in each place we visited. We also had excellent drivers who made great suggestions about what to do, see, and eat when we had time on our own. It was a pleasure having others do the driving and get us everywhere with ease and on time. The travel company was also available by phone every day if we had any questions or concerns while we were in the country. If you are going to Portugal and you want a trip that is top-notch in every way, the travel company will exceed your expectations.
