Pastel-colored houses dot the rocky terraces like a painter’s palette, providing a resplendent contrast to the sea of cobalt blue and the verdant mountains. The subtle zest of the lemon groves decorating the cliffs seamlessly blends with the refreshing scent of the Mediterranean Sea, an invitation to try the region’s famous limoncello.

Italy Family Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Naples, Mt Vesuvius, Glass Blowing Class

WOW!  Where do we start.  It was a fantastic family vacation.  From start to finish, we couldn't ask for a better scripted trip.  Our travel agent, was responsible for our itinerary for the entire trip; boy were we glad we've used their services.  They were pure angels holding our hands the entire trip.  Our travel agency would check and remind us of our itineraries on a daily basis.  It really felt as if they were right next to us.  Thank you to our agency!

We started out in Venice for 3 nights, travel to Florence for 3 more, then to Sorrento  via Pompeii 3 there as well, then to Rome for final 3 nights.

Once, we arrived in Venice, our contact met us at the airport to guide us to our hotel.  I highly recommend it since it's not an easy place to navigate on your own the first day.  After checking in, we met our tour guide for our first guided tour.  It was a walking tour of city of canals.  Just beautiful!  Next morning, we met our guide again but for Burano & Murano.  We loved the different pace of these islands.  After completing our tour we met our instructor at his glass blowing studio for a hands on experience, just lovely, follow by a Gondolier Class and Food Tour.  It was perfect way to finish the day.  On the third day, we took a one hour train ride to Verona, birth place of Romeo and Juliet.  Our tour guide met us and showed us around town and its history.  It was an wonderful place to visit.  Upon returning from Verona, we had the evening to ourselves.  We started out walking around to explore.  Needless to say we got lost but that was for the best.  It gave us the opportunity to explore the city and see how the locals lived.

Florence was our second stop.  We met our guide for the tour of the city including Santa Croce church.  Following day we visited the Accademia Gallery & Uffizzi Museum which is a must when in Florence.  On the third day, we had a lovely day trip to Pisa.  Little bit of a bus ride but wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Sorrento was next on the agenda.  But first, we stopped at Pompeii.  Our guide, an archaeologist, met us and gave us the tour of the city once buried in ashes.  What a great experience!  Our guide was so enthused to share his knowledge that we felt as if we were living in Pompeii at its height.  Afterwards, we had lunch at a wine farm on Mt. Vesuvius.  Lovely family run vineyard.  The whole day was outstanding.  For the second and third day, we decided to see the coast by sea and land.  Both were different and both were gorgeous.  Visited Capri and swam in golf of Naples first by sea then drove to different towns along the coast including Positano, Amalfi, and Revello on the second.  It was a nice relaxing break.

Our final destination was Rome.  We had an general overview tour of the city on the first day.  It was good in a sense it gave us time to get our baring straight.  The second day we met our guide for the tour of the Vatican.  You can visit the Vatican a dozens of times and still not have enough time to see all it has to offer.  In the evening, we had the Colosseum tour.  Definitely one of the highlights.  The last day we had all to ourselves.  We ended up walking around to visit the Spanish steps the Trevi fountain and many more.  We wanted to take in as much as possible.  Even though the trip was 2 weeks, it was too short.  By the end of the trip, our whole family fell in love with this county and we all looked at each other and said can we live here.

Overall, it was an outstanding trip that we can not even begin to describe.   Without the help of our agency, I don't think it would've been possible.  They made sure that every little details were taking care of.  For anyone, who's interested in Italy, please look up this company.

Review: Luxury Italy Anniversary Tour, Rome, Positano, Capri, Montalcino, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Vatican, Cooking Class, Sailing

My husband and I just returned from an incredible trip to Italy celebrating our 20 year anniversary.  Our agent with this Italy travel company planned a trip that was exactly what we were hoped for: stress-free, full of activities (but not overwhelming), romantic, and beautiful.  On a trip with so much details there are plenty of opportunities for something to go wrong but every tiny aspect was handled perfectly!! Within five minutes of stepping into any car, the driver’s phone rang.  It was one of our agents making sure everything was fine and there were no problems. Our agent made our trip incredible!  His attention to detail, vast knowledge, and ability to read people to figure out what and how to plan their trip allowed my husband and I to enjoy each other and our surroundings.

We spent the first two nights in Montalcino.  I imagine it is challenging to make a castle cozy and charming, but they succeeded!  The castle was more than we could have ever hoped for with an interesting history, beautiful pool and views that were out of this world.  The staff was friendly and helpful; the rooms were tastefully decorated and roomy.  The castle's restaurant served us the most incredible meals with wonderful wine.  We went cycling through the vineyards, enjoyed the wine tasting room, experienced a cooking class by the head chef that was entertaining as well as informative.  We actually replicated his meal within a week of arriving home.

We left Montalcino for Rome and spent four days exploring the city.  We had a private tour guide for Vatican City and Ancient Rome.  With the large amount of people, everywhere, I can not imagine trying to navigate, enjoy, and absorb so much history and space without someone to help.  He was full of information; it was obvious he loved the city and the history.  We spent our time where we wanted to be, not trying to figure out how to get there or how to get around the masses of people. The hotel we stayed at is in a great location.  The hotel was nice but it was all about the location.

We departed Rome for Sorrento where we dropped our suitcases at the hotel.  Our room was beautiful with lots of room and a view that we ran to see every morning. Their patio overlooks Sorrento Bay and we enjoyed every sunset with a drink and beautiful sights.  The staff at the hotel were very helpful with suggestions and a friendly smile. Our favorite place to eat was Donna Sophia, a restaurant that is located up a very narrow, scary but exhilarating street.  We found the ride and the restaurant to be lots of fun with delicious food.  We spent one day with a private driver and guide in Pompeii and Vesuvius.  The next day we had a private driver that took us on the most beautiful drive to Positano where we again enjoyed the views, beach, and shopping.  Unfortunately there was a wreck that blocked the road and we could not continue on to Ravello and Amalfi. Instead we spent a relaxing afternoon by the pool.

Our favorite part of the trip was a day spent on a private charter boat.  It was amazingly scenic and beautiful while relaxing and peaceful.  We enjoyed swimming, checking out caves,  a lunch that was out of this world, and champagne while drinking in the sights. We ended our boat trip on Capri Island.

We spent two nights at the hotel there.  It was absolutely breathtaking! The view from the balcony of our room can not be adequately described.  It was truly the most magnificent sight I have ever seen. The staff went out of their way to be helpful.  We had a small issue with a clothing store that was suppose to deliver a package the night before we left.  When we woke and still had not received our goods, the staff at the front desk handled the situation beautifully and resolved our problem.

Italy Family Trip Review: Rome, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Sorrento, Pompeii, Capri, Pizza & Gelato Making Class, Path of The Gods
Our travel agency did a wonderful job putting together a once in a lifetime trip for me and my three children (14, 12, 10). All of the logistics of getting into and from places were handled by Monica which meant my family and I just had to show up on time and enjoy ourselves (a huge relief for someone traveling with kids internationally for the first time). You could tell that Monica had put thought into where she selected accommodations for us in Rome and Sorrento, making walking to our destinations very easy and the preferred way of getting around. Hotel accommodations exceeded our expectations and the kids and I felt like we were in a James Bond movie at our hotel in Sorrento on the side of the cliff with Mt. Vesuvius looming over the bay in the background. All of the tours we took were very professional and we stayed pretty busy and on the move with appropriate amounts of downtime programmed into our days for people to recover and prepare for the next outing (while eating delicious food).  Rome included a private tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, pizza and gelato making class, crypts and catacombs tour, and general site seeing as we stayed near the Trevi Fountain and were within walking distance to many of the famous piazzas. Staying in Sorrento had us hiking Mt. Vesuvius, a private tour of Pompeii, boating and site-seeing the island of Capri, and hiking the Path of the Gods along the Amalfi Coast.  A wonderful trip my family will never forget and we thank Monica/travel agency over and over for putting together such an amazing trip for us! Highly recommend!

Review: Honeymoon in Italy, Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Sorrento, Pisa, Capri, Pompeii

When we inquired about a trip on Zicasso, they told us a few companies would reach out to us with different offers on our desired location. It only took one reply back from this agent for me to know that we would have a more personable experience with this travel agency. (Mainly because he was straight up with us concerning itinerary ideas, especially regarding weather and how it is unpredictable in March. He patiently worked with my fiance and me for quite a while before we approved the final itinerary filled with transportation to and from hotels, private tours (some meant to be small group, but we ended up being only ones), and pre-planned relaxing train-rides. There wasn’t a moment of our trip that we had to worry or even think about- really. Our first stop was Rome, where we spent 3 days. Upon arrival at the airport in Rome, we had a driver waiting for us, which was a huge relief since we were tired and last thing we wanted to stress about was how to get to our hotel. Our local point-of-contact for the agency also called once we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. He was great! Once we reached our hotel, we slept off the jet-lag and then our holiday started. March is the early beginning of the tourist season, so we were able to do many things without waiting. Not saying it was empty, but we had room on the sidewalks and were in and out of restaurants in no time at all. I also highly recommend planning free days in each city, as you will want to look around for yourself and take your time in certain parts. Even if you spend a week in every city, you always leave feeling like you needed much more time, as there is so much to do and so little time in a day. We spent 3 days/4 nights in Florence. It was in Florence that we were able to easily tour a good bit of what Tuscany has to offer. Through tours our agent set up for us, we visited the beautiful cities of Siena, San Gimignano (Our Favorite), Lucca, Pisa, and the Chianti Region. We tasted sooooo many wonderful wines and privately ate at local restaurants for lunch. We also took a short train ride to Venice for a day trip, as I craved a gondola ride. Everything was planned so perfectly. The minute we stepped off the train in Venezia our guide to get us to our marked location was there with a water taxi to take us to St Mark’s Square. There, she directed us to our gondola and we spent the day wondering around Venice until meeting up back with her and the water taxi to take us back to the train station. After Florence, we traveled to Sorrento (our other favorite!) along the Amalfi Coast. It was magical and the weather was perfect. We had our own boat to visit the grottos (no wait for the Blue Grotto either!) and to the Isle of Capri; and although most of the shops were closed on the isle (early season still), it was beautiful and we were able to relax on the beach. We saw Pompeii and even hiked up Mount Vesuvius. Sorrento was a quaint and charming city and we made friends with quite a few locals. We truly had a wonderful honeymoon and I would recommend this agency to everyone. We could not be happier!

Review: Italy Family Vacation, Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii, Pisa, Vatican Papal Mass

Our family of five just got back from the most wonderful vacation in Tuscany and Rome.  Our agent crafted a set of amazing experiences for our family from the private tour guides to Florence, Pisa and Lucca; a private wine tasting lunch at the Capannelle Winery and vineyards in Chianti; tickets to the Papal mass at the Vatican; to a tour beneath the church of San Clemente to see the excavations of a byzantine and then a Roman street neighborhood; a day excursion to the Amalfi coast to visit Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii; and more! Our agent and the guides found excellent restaurants from a simple salumeria where the locals ate to some high end restaurants.  The hotels were right in the center of Florence – on the piazza della Repubblica - and Rome – between the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.  Our agent was attentive to our plans and made excellent suggestions.  Everything went extremely smoothly.  All the guides drivers were very friendly, spoke English and were very knowledgeable about art, history and the local culture.  We saw so much every day because everything was so well planned.  Simply the best travel experience ever!

Italy Trip Review: Genoa, Florence, Naples, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius

Daniela tuned in very quickly as to what we were looking for and clearly delivered on that. The experiences were all and even more than we anticipated. The drivers were excellent, interesting and accommodating, especially our driver to the Caves at Balzi Rossi, who took the time to accommodate our request for an additional stop. All the guides were most knowledgeable and really covered the history. Our favorites were “Emma” and the Stibbert museum and our guide in Naples who also covered Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as the guide/vulcanologist who took the time to explain the history of the volcano as well as sift through the stones to talk about the differences. There were some glitches with the hotels. The hotel in Genoa was beautiful, but some staff were rigid in the rules such that even though we had arrived late morning in Genoa after out transatlantic flight, we were made to wait in the sitting area until 2 pm to get into our room. Other were more helpful trying to get us connected to Wi-Fi.Barbara of Daniela’s staff was incredibly helpful. When husband had severe attack of vertigo in Florence, arrangements were quickly made to get a doctor to  the hotel room. The hotel in Florence could not have been more accommodating and went out to fill the prescription. Thoroughly enjoyed stay there as everyone was so helpful, was in a great location and beautiful.  Hotel in Naples, staff was again very helpful, especially helping to get luggage to and from drivers, which could not park close by. Staff also stepped up to contact Barbara by phone, when internet was down to let her know the driver to the airport had not arrived. Once Barbara was contacted, in a very short time had a driver to the hotel which got us to the airport in time to make our flight home.
